    Hello my friend!

I don't listen to this style of music, there's really nothing in them. Since you told us we can have every opinion, I wanted to tell you to try to learn music in an apprenticeship manner. Find a music master and listen to everything he/she says. Then you can learn in the right ways to think about music.

In today's world, it is not easy to understand what music really is. By following your master's advices, you will have the chance to look at music in a more professional way.

I don't want to disappoint you. Of course, you have any freedom to look at music in any way you want.

Hey! I like the vibe that's going on here but I feel like you can expand on this more with creativity. Try to play around with humanizing instruments and percussion by varying velocity as well as experimenting with layering! Add in some ear candy or other elements for us listeners to make it more interesting. Also, I think the hats "feel" a bit too sharp. I notice just after a listen through that I found it more distracting rather than adding to the groove (I'm listening on Kali Lp-6s and NS-10ms with Adcom 545).

These are obvi just my opinion and I'm excited to hear an update! :)

    I like it.
To me, it's real soulful\mellow.Reminds me of late 80's R&B.

I'll roll off the highs a bit on the hats, i noticed that souncloud accentuates this further.

Musically, this is a really soulful beat which i like a lot. On the technical side, you should refrain from using any limiter/comp until you learn how to apply it properly. As it is, it kinda destroys the whole thing sonically, it sounds like a bad commercial where a noob engineer cranked the limiter to -24 db squashing the whole thing, making the more soft elements like the piano move way back in volume when the beat kicks in.
As for layering stuff, the "proper way" to add percussion and rhythmic elements is to find a rhythmic value for each of them that occupies its own rhythmic space within your beat. Like 4ths, 8ths, 16ths, triplets, dotted notes etc etc. Also try to add some more swing/shuffle to them so they don't fall flat on the main rhythm but more groovy instead. Beats which incorporate all these we call 'em poly-rhythmic, because they seem to contain a rhythm within another rhythm and so forth. A good example like this to study would be Timbaland's work. Poly-rhythms is his signature anyway.
    Cheers :)
PS: I put quotes on proper way because there is no proper way really, just what ticks your ear best man.
Oh and nought's suggestion ? It is suspiciously Foster-ish and the fact that he hides his profile even more

I think you need to train two major qualities when producing: musicality and sound quality. Each one of them is better managed by each of the two sides of your brain. Right now you are full of musicality and you were able to deliver a track, which is something positive. The track is musically good, sounds like a combination between an ambient track with a trip hop cadence and some jungle overtunes, it is happy and flows. While keeping that aspect intact, I suggest you start investing in the logical brain to create a better sound quality. Be aware that the more you invest in the logical brain, it can stressful and can negatively influence your music if you become a master of sound quality. So it is, give and take until you find a good balance in your brain and that will translate to music.
    Cheers!

Thanks a lot. You're right it's pretty illogical for me to think I'm doing a great job with £15 headphones from a pharmacy :D

    My advice is... keep practicing.
I've been working for warner bro's for a couple of years now.
Few years ago my music sounded like shit and all I had was a banjo and a paper textbook to read my lyrics off and performed on the street.
I was noticed by their ceo's and they gave me a laptop and a bunch of headphones.

Now I make multi billion dollar records for a whole list of different movies, tv shows, and artists.

    Keep grinding, you'll get there

OMG. I now realized how wrong i was to learn guitar & bass, piano and synthesizers, drums and percussion, singing, programming and sequencing, recording, engineering, producing and mastering. Why oh why didn't i learn the banjo. 40 years of learning music down the drain...
Not to mention this is proof that the best way to acquire and learn how to use a laptop is to first learn banjo too. Dam, those wasted years...
