So lets say I have a guitar take and I want to edit out everything below a certain threshold of volume (or below a certain frequency) what is the best way to quickly extract this? set a volume threshold on a gate and record what comes out the other end?
Part 2 of this question is how do I remove all the silence in between takes without manually cutting it? so if there is silence between :12-:18 of 24 second take, it "connects" those two sections of the waveform, does that even make sense?
Is this something that is quickly achievable in logic or should I be looking for a max/msp or PD patch?
    Thank you for reading

Use a Noise gate or expander.
