kontakt 6 and massive x were pretty disappointing but as long as NI puts out advertisements the costumers will keep buying their stupid products

What's disappointing about Massive X in your opinion ?

Anyways, yeah, NI seems dying to me also.
They had their glory days for a long time but i have a feeling it's all wearing out nowadays.
In Holland we would say: "De Koek Is Op" :bleh:

I have to agree on Massive X. Biggest disappointment in years. I think it's so wack I don't even want to use a cracked version.
But DJ Khalil is not a nobody. I can't take you serious. This expansion is pretty bangin!
As far as the rest goes: N.I. is just like your usual average big ass companies now. SALES, SALES, SALES, everything new, new, new. No support for Maschine MK1 Controller. Why? It's not like it's broke or something…
The newest Interfaces are plasticy bullshit. I think you can put 3 together on a scale and they aprox. weigh the same than the previous Komplete Audio 6 which has a solid aluminum case and feels really solid.

The problem with the new interfaces is not only that they are plastic. They are missing essential features too. I got the Komplete Audio MK2 (which I've already sold) and the MK2 is missing features that were available in MK1. How the fuck is that Mark 2 version? In my case the SPDIF was the problem because the clock source is internal only (in MK1 external could also be used). Also, the whole fucking device doesn't even have a manual. I think it's actually illegal to sell a consumer electronic device without a manual in my country, but LOL :D.

Bang on mate! This is an issue that's not discussed enough..... Young coders suck, planes planes crash when they "code". Unfortunately for them you can't beta test on a Boeing with people's lives at risk. Pretty much anything coded by the younger "workers" is a public beta test that the customer pays for and tests for the company for free. Gotta love the software biz these days.

    Cheers

NI makes great plugins/synths/libraries. Policies in life change, it is normal. They have a company to run not a charity.

You can run a company based on other pardigms than economical growth. too. There's no need for a new Maschine Controller every other year. It's a nightmare for the eco-system as well!

There are only a handful of well-known manufacturers who persistently refuse to modernize their VST plugins to v3.
Native Instruments is perhaps the most prominent one of them.
VST3 is by far no miracle technology but it is imho a
    cruical sign of decadence :trashing:

to stolidly ignore such kind of developments in technology.

Long time NI customer as well. I have mixed feelings...

There is a reason why NI is considered a top dog in the industry. Over the years they were able to create some very innovative and useful software which they consolidated into a cohesive and affordable package (Komplete). Additionally, they branched out into hardware as well as created the NKS format, essentially becoming an ecosystem for their products.

What NI has done, it has done well considering its longevity. However, a large portion of that is due in part to the success of its early customers which invested into the NI ecosystem. Without that customer base, NI would not be where it is today.

Unfortunately, a company like NI doesn't become as large as it has without some complications. I've worked in the tech industry for over 20 years and I'm well aware of the constant pressure to innovate, meet financial goals, and the general bureaucracy that is pretty typical for a company like NI. There's just no way around it. When you have too many cooks in the kitchen, the customer is usually the one who eats the disappointment that gets served.

NI has become too much about quantity and not enough about quality. I was actually pretty impressed when they announced that they would discontinue supporting a large list of their legacy products, only to find out that they relented a few days later. I really wish they would have stuck to their guns on that decision. That would have been a perfect opportunity to start fresh and consolidate resources. Instead, it has lost sight of what it can and should be, rather than being a lot of things to everyone. Its spread too thin.

A bit of insight into the company:

I was wondering if you ever paid for software?

Never used that much software or controllers but i bought an Komplete Kontrol keyboard and i really like it.

Monark is nice monosynth for a softynth. The one that is the best is Synapse the Legend in my opinion but i must say i kinda like Monark.
Legend comes closer to the moogs i own but Monark is nice for a free softsynth.

Dont know why you are so "pissed" and use all this language? Did they offend you personally?

Im actually thinking about buying a Maschine cause i really like the Maschine software that came with that controller.

    So whats your problem?
You dont have to use their software or controllers.

I think in software there are much worse companys who release "trap" vsti etc..

They discontinue hardware too. Maschine mk1 controller is officially not supported on macos catalina and without any reason too. They just would have to update the code signature of the current driver which still works. This is some apple type bullshit to force peopke to buy new hardware.

Mixed feelings here too. first thing I bought was a s4 dj contr. and then a couple of toys like F1s.. I remember sending the s4 back 2 times (2nd time with a note - guys, check your shit before sending me the 3rd one - I guess they did ;).

Was nice for private parties and was half the price of one of my cdj900.. So, yp, I'd never buy any pricey HW from them. Do they even repair stuff after the guarantee expires??

BUT, last year I had to put together a home "production" studio and I got a 100€ voucher, bought the basic K12, then upgraded to K12 Ultimate and with another 250 now I have the K12 collectors ed. All in all 600€ more or less (always on sales). For that money I can get one fuckn OT junkie trombone lol (probably top notch one though, idk..;)

So, In My HUMBLE Opinion: if you can not produce something decent with K12CE (plus some other "usual" plugins), ...I'm afraid - the problem is on your side.

Ps.: I have to agree, lately they seem a little "confused" .. like, what do we do - hip hop? it's popular.. orchestral? for wannabe film composers.. hybrid? But, are the others really so much better, like SF ..reselling same one-note miracle machines, like the "revolutionary" NEO? Have to admit -the trailer is well done..

jesus i've never seen so many people so upset over something so trivial. go grab some propranalol and lay down, ya'll. let NI do what they do; there's literally no harm in it. just feels like a lot of people who make irresponsible purchases getting salty that they wasted their money.

AFAIK NI has had severe brain drain. All their good developers have left. The people they have left in their software department pretty much only know how to make Kontakt instruments for the film score market and Reaktor synths. I've been told they're ruled by top down design by committee. Which is why anything they do takes forever and isn't really that interesting or useful.

Kontakt still has legacy code from version 1 in it and is a total rats nest of complexity that nobody there really knows how to deal with it or add any significant new features.

The company itself is in a death spiral and everyone one who has been able to realize this left a while ago.
