    Hello,

just wanted to ask if your experiences with Superlux Headphones are sometimes as bad as mine.

Over the last 2 years I had maybe 3 headphones from Superlux which always broke rather fast. 2 other headphones are a little older and everythings fine, but they don't fit my head or are not so good for mixing, the models I like always break... I had 1 HD681 Evo with a wrenched leather-band after 2 months and 2 normal HD681 where the right ear didn't work anymore after 2 weeks, or 6 weeks. I really like the HD681 EVO and maybe I want to buy a new one, because all it could be a bad coincidence... For now, I repaired the old one with lots of glue and tape, but I don't know how long it lasts...

@tori I don't want to get off topic here but the problem you are having also ocurs with headphones costing 10 times more. The solution is to switch brands. they will continue to break. I have the same problem with Focal Spirit Pro. They cost $400 and break VERY easy. In last 5 years I have gone through 9 pairs. It is funny that Focal was sending TWO pairs each time. They new they would break. Now, Focal replaced them with Focal Clear which are similar but not as good as the Spirit Pros which are the best headphones I have used for tracking. So what I have done is purchased some extra pairs on Ebay to keep them as replacements knowing that they will actually break. You should do the same or move to a totally different brand. Be aware of Samson, I think that Samson has the same models that you use. Different brand. I don't know if the construction is the same, whether it is better.

I own what are considered the "nearest" headphones, Samson 850 and 950.
I must admit that I'm satisfied and they are pretty sturdy, never had a problem in five years or so.

    Hi everyone,
2 Superlux 681 EVO here, buyed 2 years ago, working perfectly. But I think these issues may happen with every gear and brand.

    Short answer... yes.
    Long answer...
I have about 6 pair superlux laying around with some kind of defect. I use them for rehearsals for the complete band. I always say "I repair that" the truth is they are that cheap that I'm too lazy and always buy a new one.

Got other headphones that I use for roundabout 8 years (bayerdynamics) that work still fine. You get what you pay for.
For the price superlux are still pretty good value.

I have the HD 681 Black, 6 months all good. I use them just when I have to be quiet, at home I use speakers. Do you handle your gear with respect?

I mean 18€ is super cheap, its a very good price. Just get something around 100€ if you are serious about music, there are some good products at that price range with good service and warranty.

If you want affordable but with great build quality I can recommend the AKG K240 Studio.

I bought AKG 240M about 28 years ago for school. Repaired bad solder point once. Good ever since. Even found some stickers in Mix magazine just for these that cover the logo with a cooler AKG logo. Bought another AKG headphone (K553 Pro) for cheap when they first came out. Very satisfied with them too. 40 ohms versus 600 ohms for the K240m to match my mixers/interface output.

Few years ago I bought a more expensive akg model and some superlux headphones, and the akg sounded worse to me lol. And I handle my gear very well.

The best headphones i've ever had were some older model from beyerdynamic, but it was very old and a little worn out at the end, I think it was even older than me. But maybe I try another model by beyerdynamic in the next months.

Just a side question, I have the Superlux but I cant wear them more than 30-40 minutes. I use speakers 95% of time. The headphone shell creates a pressure on my ears that I find annoying. Does this mean over ear type is not for me and I should go for on ear type or this this just a superlux problem?

My HD 681 generated more pressure than my HD 668B (but the headband-pads are a little painful after a while, so I don't use it often, but it's my oldest model and it still works...).
