Awesome post! I always wondered how much these youTubers made. I even considered doing tutorials but nah, I won't be able to get a million views lol.

This thread is a get-back-to-reality check for those who dream of being You Tubers and living a glamorous life off videos uploads.

Youtubers with big stats like 1 million are earning a lot more than this what this site tells you :)

You can earn more but we are talking streaming revenues here. If you have some info we dont have, as to revenues, come forward with it.

my son used to do bboy dance tutorials on youtube. he didn't have anywhere near a million plays of his videos. at the height of his popularity, his best videos had less than 300K views. at that time he was in high school and was getting paid about $600 a month by google.

This, just like bitcoin mining, has changed.

Now its more elitist and of course the big influencers can make millions just from sponsorship never mind what youtube pays, While the people with 300k views get nothing

Exactly. Sponsorship and just revenue from streaming are two different things, albeit related.

I know that, but you said for instance in one of your earlier posts that people need to get back to reality instead of dreaming to be a youtuber. So I was assuming that you based your comment only on the revenues of this site where my answer on it was that they are earning a lot more money than that. And what I meant to say it's normal and logical that people are having this kind of view that youtubers can earn a great amount of money and therefore want to be a youtuber aswell. It's true though. You can earn a lot of money with it.

Although, you have to be very motivated and passioned in order to grow and to realize your dreams. That's with most things. Nothing comes free at your way. You have to work for it. Most people will eventually fail, because they only want to be a youtuber, because they know it can earn great. That's not how it works. In the first place you only should do things that you really love. Otherwise it will not work out anyway.

Anyway, the main sources of income for a youtuber are not streaming revenues, but probably ads. So in my opinion it's not really that weird that Youtube pays a lot less for streaming revenues compared to others. Youtubers also have most of the time contracts, sponsorships, webshops, etc that could fill their pockets.

Also the most musicians are still earning the most money with touring and not immediately with their tracks through streaming services. That's bizarre, because most artists can make already tons of millions by only making tracks in a few hours. And it's even more bizarre that some tracks are not so good. Well, I quess tastes are different for everyone which is also fine anyway.

It can be that I have understood you wrong. Well, no problem, right? Things like that happens. It's more important that everyone stays nice and friendly and making a great topic of it :)

it always makes me laugh when you see these kids trying to become shitube stars. they do not realise that its the same as becoming a TV star, where content does not matter, and usually you are chosen, you dont earn it.

Nick what is the title of this thread? How much do the top streaming services pay per stream? A guide. On the other hand, as you admitted, what you stated is more appropriate for a thread titled How much money can you make from streaming on You Tube?
I am not disputing what you said. Indeed, I agree that you can make whatever amount of $$ sponsors are willing to pay you but don't take what out of context what I said.
I created this thread with the purpose of informing those who did not know how much revenue these sites are paying for streaming. Some people are under the wrong impression that having 1,000,000 views on You Tube make you a millionaire. Not a fact. While a million views can open the door for sponsorships that can increase your revenues, it is just a possibility and impossible to quantize.

Alright. Clearly. I only thought that you based the revenues of youtubers on these stream revenues. I already explained why whereby I wanted to provide some helpful information to it that this is not true and they have more revenues from other ways. That's all, but you already knew this. So in that way I was wrong :)

To be honest I didn't even know that Youtube pays per stream aswell. I thought Youtube only pays for the ads. So you already provided me with some extra information.

$690 for 1 million streams is not much though, but for bigger artists it can still give some good amount of money.

Question is how much $$ does You Tube makes from those 1,000,000 views? We are at the wrong end of the entertainment business.
