Title. Is the algorithm reliable, assuming the routing is adequate? If not, is there a way to see the plugins' latencies and set PDC manually?
Is there an automation PDC?
I remember I had to set PDC manually in FL12 if I used any channels as sends or busses, because the algorithm that sets PDC was buggy. There were also no automation PDC whatsoever, so I had to move automation clips by ear. Not to mention insert mix knob was not in any way compensated.
This experience instilled fear of similar issues into me. Is SOne fine?

Studio One sets latency compensation automatically. The manual setting was for the old days.

Even with automation? When you are automating, say, a filter after a hefty amount of latency-heavy plugins. It was a nightmare in FL. I'm still not sure they've fixed it.

 

FL doesn't really have a problem now with this, if the plugins reports the latency correctly. If not - you will get a problem in any DAW.

I was talking about pre-20 FL when I said it was a nightmare. I don't know and, honestly speaking, am not interested to know FL's present status.

 

Agreed 100. I've never had an issue with S1 in this department either--though I've never had "disgustingly huge" projects, I've had larger, complex projects--and I've been using it for a few years now.

 

Why are you comparing an old version of FL to Studio one? ..Asking for a friend?

 

Not comparing, just illustrating the issue I had a question about. As I've said, this experience left me fearing this might happen again somewhere. And since Studio One to this day misses basic features like snap to zero crossing or stretching in any direction, and bounce is a bit wonky, I was worried that more sophisticated features might as well not work as they should.

 

i have only been using studio one for a couple of weeks now but i have not experienced a single problem with PDC. to be honest not many DAWs get this wrong, i am surprised to hear that FL did at some point.

no need to set any manual times etc, although you can still see the DC of each plugin if you want to, you just wont need to manually set it.
