Hi there, R.S. It will depend a lot on what you want. If it was made just for you to enjoy, ok then, but if you plan something else, you could try to create something a little different from the original version.

About the timbre of the Synth that starts music, its very close to the eighties for my taste, maybe you could vary a little from the moment the vocal enters (vary the mix and/or add some subtle rhythmic variations in the musical performance) I didn't like the ding timbre very much (C, Eb, F, G notes), but it's a personal thing, I think.

Maybe you could also modify the rhythmic arrangement of the song as suggested by Sylenth.Will.Fall and scott. Maybe you can vary the drum kit a bit and/or try other rhythmic patterns. Also, the drum kit timbre is still very much in the 80's (again, nothing wrong, but if you want to make a more modern impression...). Another possibility would be vary the overall musical form of the song itself, but, at the end, the most important thing is that you know what you want with your project!

You dont need a metronome to align the vocals. Sometimes singers rush or drag a bit. It is part of the performance that you want to keep unless it gets as bad as it did in your track. What you need to do is divide the vocal track in sections. Start before she starts to get out of sync and either move it forward or backward a bit. Smaller sections will help you to be more precise. Once you have edited the whole track, bounce it to a new one and the vocals will be perfectly in sync with the tempo. There are some programs that do it but I like to do it manually, to avoid having the vocal sound too mechanical/quantized or the introduction of unwanted digital artifacts.
