If you have an audio interface with enough inputs and outputs.. you can run a patch cable/s from the output channel/s on the interface into the input channel/s of the mixer that your fx are on. Then, you patch out from the channel/s on your mixer back into the input channel/s on your interface. That's called "looping out". So if channel outs 1/2 on your interface are your main outs to your monitors your interface would need to have at least two more channels (3/4) to achieve this. There are some I/O panels with direct insert slots that transmit signals both ways. In that case you can cable direct from one source to another. It depends what setup you have to work with. I'm not certain what mixer you have, or how you're set up, so I just told you the most common way to achieve what you want. A visual demonstration might be helpful if you google search keywords like "looping out from interface", or "loopback fx daw", etc.

    dbmuzik summed it up.
as far as routing in your DAW goes, that will depend on the DAW, but you will be able to set up external effects and insert them like a plugin.
