I have Korg microKey 37. Every time I play something, it sounds suck. But, every time I watch someone plays on Youtube, it sounds great. First time, I thought my skill was just bad.
However, I found even just pressing a piece of keyboard sounds different. From that time, I began to doubt my master keyboard.
Can the sound be different depends on the keyboard?

I read it as "Different MIDI keyboard sounds different". That's ofc bullshit.

But playability, viscousity/speed of keys, velocity sensitivity/range/accuracy, size/dimensions/weight, etc ofc affect the data that you put in. Same thing with a shitty guitar that has very high string action and 8 year old strings on it. However, if you have learned/mastered how to play on small semi-weighted keys it might be weird to move on to an 88 hammer action weighted full-size keyboard (and vice versa).
So in essence, yes - a Roli Seaboard will send out more data than your MicroKey37 and thus create a different sound. But MIDI is still MIDI, and MIDI has no sound per se.

nothing there explains how the sound quality can be different, care to explain? cause i'm rather curious how 2 different brands of midi keyboards sending the same midi signals can influence the sound :bleh:

playability influences the outcome. not the sound itself, but the way it is played can have a huge impact on the outcome. everything from weighted keys to good velocity responce effect the output.

actually I've met some pianinsts questioning shittyness of their recordings, turned out their fully-weighted keyboards were set at maximum expression dynamics (or whatever you call it) so when playing chords or faster patterns, they were not able to press the keys equally and the midi-based result sounded mediocre indeed

You need the right technic. Everything sounds better if you do it the right way. Try this, write a hit.

What @The Pirate and@tun and @tzzsmk said. All correct.
The Pirate 's article reference for me boils down to one fact:
The more control you have real-time over the sounds you play, the better and more "alive" and "organic" it can sound. I can only add, learning and knowing what is available to you in terms of features, the midi implementation and how those parameters you control can be changed, can also help you make compromises you won't miss when selecting your next controller, saving money in the process that can be used elsewhere.
@Baxter is also right. What he forgot to mention is the Roli Seaboard is: 1. very expensive and 2. demands skills to play it, if you got no skill at piano and/or keys you don't need one, and it isn't the type of keyboard to learn on either. But of course it's amazing alright. Sht, i 'd love to have one.
    Cheers

as an owner of a Seaboard RISE 49, I can genuinely tell it is NOT a piano and most of my pianist/keyboardist friends had big problems at all playing it,
despite the keyboard "shape" it's absolutely uncomparable in terms of everything, so me (although used to play piano for about 13 years back then) I approach it as entirely new instrument/controller with different techniques of playing (you can search for some videos/interviews of Marco Parisi explaining he is continuously learning the way to play it...)

The OP is not talking about the sound quality. The OP is referring to performance quality. @tun , @tzzsmk , and @taskforce all have answered your question. As @taskforce put it "The more control you have real-time over the sounds you play, the better and more "alive" and "organic" it can sound." Obviously, if two keyboards send/receive the same MIDI data, the resulting sound will be the same, as long everything else is equal.

Edit: @SineWave Noted another important aspect. Is the OP using miDi over USB while the guy on You Tube uses a dedicated MIDI interface?

Not so quick. I don't think it is bullshit for the reasons I noted, and that you stated.

If the data you send out in can be different from one keyboard to the next, the resulting sound will be different. Indeed, the resulting sound can vary even when using the same keyboard if the MIDI data (messages) being sent/received is different.

Generally in strictest sense of " all things being equal"... no. But, different velocity curves can make a very big difference.

Exactly. It's self-explanatory. But it doesn't change the sound quality.

I don't think that the OP mentioned quality. The OP simply said "different". So the answer to his question is yes. And while technically speaking, it does not change the sound quality per se, it does change the quality of the performance.
