    I see .
For lack of space, and also because I was tired of having to tune it all the time I sold my acoustic piano some time ago.
I replaced it by a Kawai VPC1, even if not as good as what I had in terms of feeling it remains a good compromise.

This is normal for electromechanical devices. Same with analog synths. All are unique :) Where I think the Pianoteq Rhodes differentiate too much how the bark sounds. It has a particularly nasty bark, even at low velocities, and although I must confess I didn't grow up with a Rhodes, I've played several of them, and I cannot say I find the Pianoteq Mk1 or 2 very close to any of them. Can't speak for the Wurly.

It is the same sound. In the pro version however, you get to move around the microphones and such and get some more parameters to tweak. You can compare products on their website :)

The bark is why I like the Pianoteq Rhodes! But I like Keyscape more and Lounge Lizard is more flexible.

**** i just played around with pianoteq 6, i can tell i was impressed by the number of modeled instruments ! :woot: and all of that fits just in a plugin that is about 55mb ?! this is just freaking insane

well, to me the acoustic pianos sounded "ok"... im not that much picky about acoustic pianos, because i have very little experience with them.

but definitely not the rhodes EP's, their rhodes ep sound some kind on their own, i compared immediately with Neo Soul Keys i have loaded to another track, really .. pianoteq ep's no thanks; not for me at least! -NSK offers much more richer rhodes sound diversity and responds as it was just alive.. (especially when Jamal himself plays one in one of the video demos lol)

as i have browsed further through other instruments, i was really impressed with all their mallets (vibra, xylos, glock and the celestas etc) they just sounded great out of the box and literary were moaning to be recorded like now .. and i liked them so much that i think i will go legit and buy from Pianoteq only these ones, so i can definitely get rid of the other ones i have as ok-meh sounding hdspacewhoring libraries for kontakt.

i also loved al lot the Clavinet D6, it seemed to sound much more "live" and organic than the Clavi D9 by Acousticsamples i currently use. , i may change that too.

wondering if pianoteq ever goes on sale and when?

what i absolutely don't like with pianoteq is their pricing policy and different features between versions stage / pro bullshit, that's some really annoying LAME SHIT.. i really don't understand why would i need some extreme precision tweaking of a model D ??? do u think IRL you can tweak a model D in a studio ??? lol they should just make one version with all the features for an unique price.. like $249 and that's it.

Only the Pro version supports 192kHz; so no, not really.

F**K that. I'd rather have the basic version at a basic price, it's fine for me. I have 100 other pianos. If you want bells and whistles, you pay for them. Having tiers is smart.

I wouldn't judge a piano by the technology behind but rather by its sound.
And although I agree that it's hard to model sympathetic resonances, even in some sampled libs they sound good enough to serve the purpose.
And I cannot say that there is "one best piano", there's a number of well-done libraries for different purposes.
If I had to pick only one though, it would certainly be Frahm's Noire for Kontakt.

    Wow is right!
I installed this recently and really liked the sound and playability, but I didn't notice the add-on instruments were included until now (thought it was only the one piano model) so I'm glad I noticed this thread.

This will definitely replace a lot of sampled instruments for basic sounds unless it's something with a lot of character. I don't care about perfect realism, just as long as something sounds good in it's own right.

Interested in checking this out. I found 6.2 Stage here at AZ. Can someone PM me the sister site link? I have wondered about the sister site numerous times since reading about it but haven't been able to find it.

The low RAM footprint makes it an amazing drafting tool, even if you don't plan on using it in a final mix. That being said it already sounds amazing now and it will only get better in the future I'm sure.

But AZ is the sister site. So you must mean "there" at AZ.

I make Hip Hop, from Boom Bap to more Erik Jackson/Ski Beats/The Roots type stuff (essentially Soul/Funk/Jazz inspired Hip Hop that I play, not sample,) and I like Pianoteq Stage for a quick jam and the MIDI feature is cool, but there's no way it comes close to *replacing Purgatory Creek's EPs, or Gospel Musicians Neo Soul Keys or..., hell, I'm not a fan of NI's EPs--they're not bad, I just like more imperfections in my EPs, which is unique in every real EP--
but their Mark I and A-200 are still *way above Pianoteq's. As I said, I like their pianos for quick, low CPU practice or noodling with ideas, but, again, it also can't *replace Imperfect Samples' Walnut Grand, or their Braunschweig Upright, or Acoustic Samples' OldBlackGrand, or Synthogy's Italian Grand, or.... well, the list is long.
I could see how it would be a perfect VST for LoFi, as your probably reducing/altering the end audio bounce so much that it hides a lot of aspects of it that *I find unappealing plus, being easy on your CPU with MIDI nifty-ness.
    Also:
@mrpsanter I honestly was about to agree with you... but then I was going to disagree... but now? I think they both have aspects that bother me, and each have their merits. Honestly, I really like the Pianoteq U4 Upright even though it doesn't sound too realistic, though the vintage sounds closer, and I really like Arturia's Japanese Grand Solo, but the same applies (and yes, I know they're two different styles of pianos.) Neither are terrible, and at the end of the day, it all depends on what sound you want; if you need a pop piano piece for a Trap track, you probably aren't going to want Imperfect Samples Braunschweig Upright (damn do I adore that piano,) but something much more lite, plastic and tame, like Arturia's U3.
Actually, gun to my head, I'd have to take Arturia over Pianoteq, just because I can't find a sampled Japanese Solo Grand--what else am I going to play while pretending that I'm as talented as Nobuo Uematsu.

It's good that we all like different things. The world would be a boring place if everyone agreed on what piano they liked most!

Bro, seriously, take a break, have a beer, it's on me.
You know I myself accept subtle corrections but this is just too much
