I think the rules prohibit me from linking it or saying it by name, but think the name of this site, subtract the 'sex', add a 'z' and and a (dot) download at the end or such..... (and i hope this way of pointing to it is ok mods, if not, my sincere apologies, as you know I like to adhere to your rules...)

It's on the sister site, or just do a search for "Kontakt v6.2.1 Mac download" -- it's definitely out there.

No problem! Glad I could help!

I've been using v5.6.6 (the last version released that can add libraries), but most of the k'd installers will come with a v5 standalone that can add libraries to whatever v6 version you're installing. I think the v6.2.1 installer comes with v5.6.5 standalone.

I think NI messed up somewhere between v6.0.4 and v6.1.1, as there was a bug (at least on my machine) where Kontakt would crash in the middle of batch-resaving certain libraries. This was actually something that NI addressed in the release notes for v6.2.1, and it definitely fixed the problem. So far, I've had zero problems with v6.2.1.

yeah, i have heard mentioned, but haven't run into the problem yet, of batch re-saving causing issues with future iterations of Kontakt... say i batch re saved "output rev" or something in 5.5.2, and that would cause issues in say 6.x.x.... but that could b wrong, or i misread it... i just remember being a tad concerned with some post by somebody...

and "but most of the k'd installers will come with a v5 standalone that can add libraries to whatever v6 version you're installing. I think the v6.2.1 installer comes with v5.6.5 standalone."... i did not know that... i was perusing sister site and our friends at m*j, and i think the links were snipped, but i was running errands or something... will go look again, and i'm damn sure i've got it downloaded already in prep for updating as i'm kinda oc that way...

i should probably grab the kontakt 6 library as well.. argh... see if that is still in the wild...

but thanks again mate for all your help and insight.

Edit add: oh, quick question Iggy, (first of all you were right as there IS a nice v5.6.6 included with the 6.2.1 which is really thoughtful from the packer/releaser), but will running the "install" package cause issues with my legit v5 and NI Ultimate 10 or whatever the last one I got was? (I haven't updated since the dropped service center and changed to "all access" so a little wary.... but i will clone first just in case I guess... just don't want it screwing libs up on external drives etc.. which i imagine it shouldn't hopefully...)

I actually got mine from our mutual friends at m*j, which came with a 5.6.5 standalone. I don't know if the links are still valid.

That's a good question. Installing any version of Kontakt 6 won't mess with Kontakt 5, as all the Kontakt 5 stuff is actually named "Kontakt 5" and Kontakt 6 is just named "Kontakt". The included k'd Kontakt 5 standalone is specifically named "Kontakt 5.6.6" (or whatever version they give you), but just to be safe, you may want to take your legit Kontakt 5 standalone out of the "Native Instruments/Kontakt" folder in your App folder and place it anywhere else (you can even just temporarily move it to the main "Native Instruments" folder, just keep it out of the Kontakt folder) before installing v6.2.1. Once you're done installing, make sure the k'd Kontakt 5 standalone is named "Kontakt 5.6.6" or something significantly different than your legit "Kontakt 5" standalone, move your legit Kontakt 5 back into the Kontakt folder and you should be able to use all three versions (your AU and VST plugs for v5 will be the legit ones, as the v6 installer only installs a standalone).

Here's a problem, though: I don't know how your legit Kontakt 5 will work with any k'd libraries. My guess is, you probably won't even see them, but if they show up in your legit v5, you definitely won't be able to use them. If you want my advice, you may as well get rid of your legit v5 altogether, once you're sure your k'd v6.2.1 works okay.

thanks for all the great advice.

Yeah, my 'workaround' for Kontakt legit vs k'd Kontakt here is that I keep 'legit' Kontakt in my AU folder, and I have a special "VST's for Ableton" folder, in which I put the K'd version, as yes, you are right, legit Kontakt won't run those libraries etc... so when I am going "darth", i just use the VST version... and actually just use that most or all of the time regardless...

But yeah, I might just drop the legit one anyways, as whatever, who cares you know? I bought it, I can use the k'd one if i want... and whatever.. I was just curious as I have never even installed the NI all access or whatever it's called, as I haven't updated since the "Service Center" days... and wondered whether installing the NI "access" (still spacing on it's name lol), will frack up my legit vs k'd stuff etc...(as i think you have to install that with newer versions etc but could be wrong...)... I guess I will find out!

thanks again for everything... seriously.:bow::mates:

No, you load from the standalone version, and use the plugin version. You're confusing things with the workaround for running a legit Kontakt alongside a k'd Kontakt.
    Yes!

Ok thanks, I did know that you need to initiate the libraries in a standalone version now due to the Kontakt changes if thats what you mean?
I think i may ressurect this thread when it comes to install again, if needed ;)

But good to know that these libraries are compatible regardless of PC or Mac, as its just the 'front end' Kontakt that is the crack to read them. :)

Also as a side note, with these Kontakt Downloads, is the Kontakt Factory Library included at all?

I only ever installed Kontakt a couple of years back and never remember having the Kontakt Factory Library included ?

Does anyone know where this is available as a separate download that i can incorporate into my Kontakt, and future updates? (unless the future updates all come with the content as part of the install?)

Sorry if this is not allowed? but just thought i'd ask..

No. It has never been included.

    Search on sister site.
    It will never be included.
