MY PHILOSOPHY is use any tool you can find to build a good tune....

 

Mine opinion is to know the theory so well, that you have it with you without needing to consciously think about it .
You can play the " wrong" notes on purpose and make them " right"

Surely with the millions of moments in your entire life all related to interacting and communicating with others you have given thought to such things ....or no?

The type of " music theory" I am talking about here is the patterns in music that fit together like puzzle peices . The knowledge of how music itself works to create the types of feelings and emotions you want in the listener.
