Okay let me reiterate. Room sounds on a bass amp is fine. Reverb on Cello is fine. Reverb on bass is just ridiculous. You want glue? GLUE the signal. Make a parallel chain just for the low end. Don't use a reverb. As a mastering engineer, I can tell you that when you come to sit in on a mastering session and start to hear bass reverbing in your mix you'll feel a little embarrassed. A lot of mastering chains calls for slight reverb on the entire mix anyway. Please! Don't put reverb on a bass, especially the DI. If you must, filter the low end out. There.
