You said, "We are all (apart from you) saying that compression has new usages too!".

No. Actually, what I did say was what they were made to do,
and how they can be used for utilitarian and creative intent.

You went back 70+ years to make a point, as if the concept is antiquated, but it's still as relevant in broadcasting and now streaming.
Anyway, everything isn't a hot debate or hand to hand combat on the internet.
If you read my initial comment you'd understand, It was a fundamental answer utilitarian or creatively. Just understand the tool.

Now you're just projecting. That was not what I was saying, and you (hopefully) know it.
Other than that, I can agree with everything you've said. I don't know what your problem is. "Hand to hand combat"? Yeah; projection.
I understand the tool, but thanks for telling me to do so. Great.
    @ryck Nope, no image here...

Well your initial question, "Does it make sense to compress a VST" seemed as if you didn't fully
grasp the idea of compression. That's what I was trying to answer. No worries.
Know the tool and explore, experiment, and have fun.

Not my question pal. @ryck's question.
Once again, thanks for telling me to know the tool. Great.

That's the sucky part of the internet. Sometimes the intent gets lots in translation.
    It's all good.

If I understand what a compressor is. Maybe not as a sound engineer. If I hadn't put What's a compressor? I asked if it made sense to compress a vsti because some have low speeds and from my point of view, I didn't find much sense. Which is very different from not knowing what a compressor is. Anyway, the idea is to share the knowledge, I see everything in a creative and contributive way. And I always try that in every question. "When someone thinks they know everything, then they are limited."

Dont fight guys. We are here to share.

Just noticed you're disagreeing with the fact that people with synaesthesia and sound engineers talk in similar ways? Using the word 'colour'? Interesting.
I know you don't seem to like it, but it is a fact. But disagree by all means.
It can't be that hard to relate to, imo.

It's more a disagreement with multiple replies originally by @Smoove Grooves and then followed by the replied one.
He's kind of "reply trigger happy" as I've experienced recently. Sometimes we agree and sometimes don't.

Yeah it's a fact that people talk in similar ways, but not everybody Means the same as you do with the exact term Color.
you get that? or are you too hard-headed to get that in? do you like beeing treated condescending, little boy??

Forgetting bus compression, this is an interesting topic for me. The purpose of compression is to shape the sound, which can largely be done with the envelopes within the synth. That said, compressors can work along side the envelopes to perfect that shape.
Its also important to concider any other things that are happening within the synth, such as beating or effects which can change dynamics of the sound drastically.

Ultimately its important to remember the golden rule of compression. "Compress when it is needed and only when it is needed"

Not really, no. And you don't need to tag me, thanks.
It was @ryck 's thread; he knew exactly what was going on. And now he's left the site.
