True. They use bleach to whiten the meat and say it helps get rid of bacteria.
Obviously bleach is a poison, so it's illegal to treat meat in this way in the EU.

Types of chlorine: chlorine dioxide, acidified sodium chlorite, trisodium phosphate and peroxyacids; which if enough chicken is ingested daily will lead to health problems. I am one of the people that believes that if things are done properly, then these chlorines shouldn't be needed.

Btw, it's actually chlorine they use. I corrected it later on. But it does change/bleach the meat colour as well as kill bacterias. Not needed if the process of production is good, and the US just does it out of laziness, avoiding the need to be clean about the process.
