singing in front of the microphone or on the side?

hello friends..i am bothering me again :bleh:

Well, I've already told you that I have reverberation problems in my house. And they gave me some tips to reduce reverberance. I was populating singing on the side of the microphone, and I found it interesting, although it does not convince me at all, because, on the one hand the voice has body, and more nuances are heard more, but on the other hand, it has almost no brightness as if I sing head on . Of course I could put an eq, but it wouldn't be the same. I also found it interesting that when I sing with a head voice or a mixed voice, it captures the voice much better. But I really leave myself with many doubts I would like to know what you think. I leave the others. Which one will they choose? Or would they use both forms depending on the song? Thank you very much in advance

Sing right into the mic and adjust the distance for sound.

if you are gonna whale into it, you tend to get a sense of how to move your headaway "in time" with the whalling, so you get a "pro result". "non pro" version will give you "too much" :)

On axis. No need to go off-axis with vocals, unless you are whistling. If you are talking about proximity, find a distance that fits your voice and mic.

Sing straight on and use the proximity effect to "tune" the bottom end to taste. A Cappella you'll want that bottom end but in a mix a good deal will probably be scooped out though. You'll actually get more room sound on capture if you're off axis as your body will act as sound blocker if only a tiny bit. If you have a duvet, throw it up somewhere to knock down the room sound if that's all you have. I've done it before to good effect.

Another method would be to sing in front of an open wardrobe in its direction.

First of all, thank you for responding and helping me. What happens is that if I sing closely to the microphone (even with the antipop) I don't know why the microphone stops taking the sound and I have to take the cable out and put it back in (mic condenser). Try what he says, don't be ashamed... to sing in front of a closet (it's wooden) but the voice comes out as if it were in a jar. Maybe you could put the microphone against the wall and muffle it with your body as you say. But I have this problem that the microphone gets kind of saturated... and I don't turn up the volume of my voice very much.

I think you're supposed to sing / talk "across" the mic, rather than directly into, but that's mainly with condenser (pressure) mics, just a good habit to get into.

Is condenser. If i sing in front ( very proximity) the mic lets work..and i need quit cable and pit again.

How close that you sing to the microphone will dictate how much bottom end is captured. Experiment with both distance from the mic, from an inch to a foot, and singing to the right, left or above the capsule"s axis also, finding a sound you are looking for. Mic placement is a skill to work on not only for voices but for instruments as well, thinking ahead and using the proximity effect as an eq to find niches for different tracks to live in, like thinking of the plot of a story before writing it. Singing a little off axis can also help tame a sibilant singer so that the sssss is not so ssss.

Let Ryan guide you through the practical use of proximity.

I totally agree with what you say "it's like telling a story". In fact in everything I do with music I do it or rather, I should...sometimes by concentrating more on my toys vst, I forget what I wanted to tell or express in the song. Thanks for the video. Well, I want to sing like in the min 2.24. Almost glued to the microphone. But I don't know why it turns off, it's like the sound goes away, and there's a shhhhhhh sound and I have to wait a while. But if I sing sideways that doesn't happen. I don't know if it's the capsule that's damaged or the antipop is bad. My microphone is a cad gxl 2200

Well folks, I think it solved the problem.
I put a half to the microphone , and now it does not saturate, that is, it does not turn off.
I know that perhaps it is not the right thing, but I will get a material similar to the antipop, to cover it. Likewise, my microphone is cardoid.
I think that now it is good, I can maintain the proximity and the softness of the voice, I even think it reduces the sound of this microphone.
I leave a demo to see what they think.
    thanks friends.

Chuck and Bob from the seventies sit com SOAP.

The producers couldn't work out why every time Bob spoke his voice started breaking up, until somebody noticed that the boom operator would point the mic at Chuck (Jay Johnson) when he spoke and then point it at Bob when he spoke.

You have a great voice and perfect for rendering a Paul McCartney song. Paul is one of the great songwriters and musicians we've had.
That's one of the funniest things I ever heard. I loved Soap when it originally aired. It was the first of its kind of sitcom and was totally unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Thanks for the memory.
