But its not just having to connect to a download or something, you need their portable software linking you licenses for freebies,

1 - they set how long the activation lasts for
2 - If their server or company tanks, my software doesn't work. Not a single thing in my rig will ever be set up like that, not in a million years

But i would much rather Acoustica gives up their aquarius shiet so R2R can liberate their stuff without having to build a server emulator (or something, im a musician not a crakkah)

Anyway, how's everyone liking the sound and vibe of El Rey??! I feel almost guilty for paying so little for such a fine plugin.

Since they've had their Black Friday sales, til now, I've managed to get almost every single Acustica plugin I've wanted (and more) for quite some time due to their aggressive discounts, further compounded by the lovely vouchers that kept coming in like clockwork.

As a musician, I can say that it most definitely feels good to pay for plugins that you love, and use them in the real world.

Aside from only a select few algo plugins, I'm pretty much 98% all Acustica for ITB. Phenomenal stuff!!

Just for info : El Rey is "old" enough and can be downloaded and activated without aquarius or an internet connection (I got mine running on my offline computer without any problem). Just use the old "SER"/"AUT" method in your orders tab in acustica website, and copy the AUT file to your offline computer.
Aquarius is nevertheless needed for more recent plugins, so in a near future I won't buy any more plugins from them. A shame...Still, I'm glad to be able to enjoy such a great comp at such a good price!

 

El Rey is one of their most recent, and all their paid plugs as of now work with their offline procedure.
Don't know how long that will still be the case but today it is.
It's only their freebies that you have to dl and authorize exclusively through aquarius.
The download part of their paid products must happen online though. Only very old ones that came before aquarius can be donwloaded on their website.

Even then. Aquarius is just an installation and authorization assistant. it doesn't need to run or even be there for your aquas to work. it doesn't even need to be connected to the net. It's just for the installation and download procedure part.

El Rey is absolutely a must have. It's completely retarded at this price point to not get it for a stupid download tool.

But again so is Celestial. But even free some genius didn't get it. What can you do ?

I totally agree. I've only been playing with El Rey a bit since yesterday but everything I've tried it on so far sounds better for it. Smooth, warm, big and full.

Wait, so how does the authorization of this work - is it just a plain serial number that works offline, or do you need to upload a machine ID or something? I mean, if I buy this, and once I have downloaded it, will I be able to install it on any offline machine with the license or keyfile that they provide, or are those tied to a computer or online activation?

It's a key. Which is linked to the pc (hw) it's generated on or for.
To install on an offline setup : dl and install first on your online computer through aquarius. Copy the installed files from your online computer (you can choose where they are installed in aquarius ^psettings) to your offline setu. All of them except the "aut" file which is the authorization file link to the online computer you've just installed El Rey on. It won't work on your offline setup. Optionaly deauthorize El Rey in aquarius on your online computer. If you won't use it on this setup might as well recuperate that slot. You can do that through the update tab in aquarius.
Once all the files of El Rey have been copied in your vst folder on your offline setup, run you daw and launch el rey. . It will say it'd unauthorized. Close your daw. A "ser" file has just been generated in your vst folder, next to the ones you copied there.
You copy and paste this ser file on your online computer. From this online setup you go on acustica website, in your account, in your purchases page. There you should see el rey in your purchase list with the possibility to authorize it. You upload the ser file here and it will generate aan "aut" file linked to it that you can then copy back to your offline setup. Launch daw, el rey and it should be authorized.
