Hi everyone, I have an unlocked version of Kontakt 5.6.5. which allows me to load third party libraries of instruments. There are newer libraries that don't work with this older version. Some of them require version 5.7 and some version 6. I don't want to download the latest version from NI as I will lose some of my older libraries (i.e. they will stop working on the newer version...). Does anyone know if it's possible to get a newer version of Kontakt which is also unlocked that will enable me to add newer libraries without losing my old ones? I am using Mac OS El Capitan (10.11.6). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Any newer version of Kontakt will pretty much be able to load all your old libraries, especially if you are already successfully running them in v5.6.5. In fact, you should hold onto v5.6.5 standalone (renaming it "Kontakt 5.6.5" so that newer installers won't overwrite it), because that's the only way you will be able to add libraries going forward. v5.6.5 and newer versions can co-exist side by side. Unfortunately, the problem for you will be El Capitan, as I don't think v6.x runs in anything earlier than Sierra.

Not sure where you got that idea from.

And 5.6.0 and 5.6.6 seem to be the chosen 'add library' tools. Not sure about how well 5.6.5 works.
