Almost all the Arturia Synths. The only one I use is the mini v3.
And Kick2. I know this is the ultimate kick toolbox but everytime I fire it I keep going back to BazzISM and Live's stock plugins :dunno:

Fab filter Pro Q (well I can't stand Pro C either). Nice interface, but the sound. Just cheap.

Call me crazy, but I bought Omnisphere over two years ago and just have zero flow with it.

    DUUUDE!!!!!

Same here man, it's just a massive endless library that I don't really need...

I feel like, if you have a solid grasp of the fundamentals, you don't need so much shit. I can work with a few good quality tools and make it work.

I'd rather put my fundamentals and practical knowledge and techniques to use rather than feel like I need this tool or that tool to give me sounds...

Yes, I do have the same feeling. I only use equilibrium and recently theeqblue since it's on audioz because of this reason. And the dmg comp's for pro c.

Chalk me up as not getting Omnisphere as well, by all accounts it's good but it just doesn't sit right with me.

On software modulars, I've trying to get into Pure Data and/or Max/MSP for a long time, but I just keep falling back into Reaktor. Don't know why those don't click.

It's not about the tools, it's about how you use them.
Good presets can make even shitty synths shine.
And EQ is often another key to make sounds fit a track.
And if it doesn't fit your track, you haven't turned the knobs long enough :dj:

And there's workflow: sometimes too much knob-turning, tabbing and trying to figure things out on a badly designed or overcrowded gui can hinder creativity and workflow.

Yeah I'm DMG all the way too. Equilibrium and Compassion are my go to precision tools. Flux, TDR and Voxengo gets a bit of love also. Mostly DMG though. Well and AirWindows ofc.

Never enjoyed those. I know they benefit from a huge buzz, they always have so I tried. Stopped trying after v 2 tbh.
It doesn't mean it doesn't have extraordinary features, and it's a well thought tool. But wether it's boost or cut, I don't like what I hear.
Every opinions are biased on this matter, what I think is irrelevant, if you enjoy Pro Q.
I actually feel the same as you regarding Arturia. I never liked those synths.

I don't know. In the beginning, the sound out of it was very low in volume, so kinda unusable for me. After a few firmware updates they fixed that. The sound is sweet, nothing to criticise, but for some weird reason, i never find an use of it in my songs. I make a sound, I like it and after I record it, i always need to change it or find a replacement.
I will give it one more shot in my new studio, maybe it inspires me this time. If not, I will just sell it.

(I know it is not software, so I hope it doesn't deviate the subject)

I dislike uhe, too, surprised so many others do. It's often the interface as well, but the sound in even their best synth isn't as good as Legend. I literally cannot even stand to look at Hive's gui, rly irks me, haven't even got further than loading it and aborting that stupid idea! Similar thing kinda goes with Avenger, I just get the impression that the text gets smaller the larger you zoom it. I've got too many pads anyway, who cares?

There are a lot of rly clunky-looking synths! Other people have mentioned Omni, that's touch & go but a colossal pita to navigate, still feels like they just bolted the simple Stylus interface (which works well there) wholesale with zero thought. For some reason, the washed out (albeit too brite) grey of Nithonhat rly bugs me too. But I can live with the sound. The name? All of those D16 synths sound like bad anagram puns.
