who can help? For me, it comes to the following problem:

With chords (more than one note), the NOTE OFF command at the same time apparently NOTE ON command to the DAW or sent as interpreted as such. This means that the instrument sounds when struck AND THE RELEASE of the keyboard keys.
So it appears in the editor (see screenshot).

This only occurs when playing chords, all sounds EXCEPT the fundamental tone will sound when you release the button a second time

It also happens at times to an over-reaction / repeat / loop the sound when multiple keys are pressed at the same time (from two tones). When I then click on another track in Cubase, the sound ends.

Individual notes are played correctly, latency is good.

I therefore suspect something Midi-specific, rather something wrong with the sound card. The DAW (Cubase 5.1) and the keyboard (old DX 21) are the same as before. There was never any problems ...

Is this a known USB Midi problem? The cable can be the reason?

It occurs since my conversion to on Win7 Professional and new hardware.

You don't have the same MIDI interface as before? Then it could be the reason. There are some crap interfaces around, stick with the ones from well-known manufacturers: E-MU, ESI, CME, Roland, etc.

what midi interface do you use?
is a cheap usb to midi cable? usually they work good only if you try to send sysex problems may occur, but thats not the problem.

you can test the MIDI Input/Output of your interface with this tool MIDI-OX 7.0.2

Wayne, is your DX21 in "local" MIDI mode? Just guessing... On the older keyboards it was necessary to put the keyboard in a "local" MIDI mode so they don't send excessive MIDI data, and they don't play their own sounds.

Just a blind man in the dark looking for a switch [LOL, it doesn't matter if your blind in the dark]. But you might find it. anyway, I'm just throwing some ideas.

I'm glad you're using DX21, it's a very good keyboard, especially when you compare it to the contemporary ones. it's also easy to clean and maintain.

 

my guess it is the midi interface, and the driver probably doesnt rum well on win7. what midi interface do you have? newest drivers installed?

i had one of these cable things you just plug into midi and then into usb and it sucked and was broken.it also did strange stuff to midi information.
now i have rme fireface and i am happy indestrucktable basically.

 

the local on/off mode is only for splitting keyboard from soundengine, means: keyboard is only sending to midiout, no sound will be played, it has nothing to do with the amount of sending midi-data


@wayne3: if you dont find a solution, maybe as workarround: try out to shorten your notes for a few ticks that you dont have all note-off same time and a little space between new note on

and in your picture you send midi to kontakt, so you have the problems also internal? than i doubt its the usb-midi-interface

im wondering why yo work with note-on and off, when i remember cubase (long time ago) it handles the note-off itselves, you just give note-on an the length.

and i remeber cubase has some option in preferences to follow events (f.e.: you have a loooong note about dozen of bars, when you play from the middle of the track the note-on is not played, but cubase can "trace" it with this option), maybe try diff settings there

Thanks for all your advice. The problem could be solved. Maybe it helps others on.

After I had the same malfunction also in standalone mode / NI KONTAKT, I could exclude CUBASE as an error source. The same error also occurred during installation of the interface to on my other PC (XP 32bit). Here was pretty clear that the cable / interface is crap. The dealer got it back.

Today I received a new ESI Midi Mate II and everything works perfectly.

So my tip for anyone with the same problem: Do not waste your time. In this context, NEVER buy off-brand products, or cheap junk from EBAY!
