    Hi.
I love bagpipe sound though I can't play the real thing.
Do you have any suggestion for Powerful, Aggressive, Breathtaking bagpipe VST instruments which fit modern rock music well? :)

  4. AC/DC used bagpipes in "It's A Long Way To The Top". That was back in the 70's. Then Paul McCartney did too in "Mull Of Kintyre. It never happened again. I think a law was passed and it has stood the test of time. Bring back bagpipes at your peril.

CineWinds Pro by Cinesamples has also uillean pipes and it's pretty good.

    Hi.
    I like Scottish the most.
I've heard some demo sounds from the links you gave me and from several other sites I found by googling.
It seems they are not so powerful(?) as I expected, but I could touch them a little for some modification.
Thanks for your suggestion which is really helpful to me. Happy new year in advance. :)

I don't know well about AC/DC, but from what I remembered, Korn have used the bagpipe for some of their songs made in last 10~20 years.

Anyway, apart from the bagpipe, I regard almost all sound as potentially good sound. I think they are just waiting for someone who pick them up for making good music by mix with other sounds, even if they sounds not quite good when they are alone. Bagpipes could be lonely today, but not always will be!!! :)

Oh, here came another suggestion! But it is time to dinner, so I will googling about it later. Thanks for your help. :)

Kontakt standard library has one too, with drone capability, not too shabby.

If you want a VSTi there are at least 2. SugarBytes Bagpipes offering several countries versions and Universal Piper which gives a more Scottish bagpipe option.

Cinewinds pro and ilya efimov are nice but I Made a lot of bagpipes beats in the past and surprisingly for me, the Best Sound and playability and the Best results, I always got out of
    Bela D Anthology Winds.

I love the bombarde and the uillean pipes.

Happy New year to you all

I couldn't think about the factory library, because I haven't use it much.
I think I should try it out. Thanks~

Thanks but... Did you mean SoundByte? I couldn't find any bagpipe instrument on SugarByte homepage, but I found one on SoundByte website although the product page doesn't open.

I've heard demo sound of Ilya efimov pipe yesterday. Now I should check out some sound of Cinewinds and Anthology Winds. Thank you and happy new year.

  15. Many sounds work where intended. Uilleann pipes and Highland Bagpipes have different sounds and thickness in sound variants. They both have drone keys and limited facility to work chromatically and over multiple octaves. Tenor and Bass drones for a start and tuning...Some good players can do things with them, but the moment you start shifting them out of their natural keys, they cease to sound like the real thing. Also Irish and Scottish pipes are different. The Irish can inject vowels - so on and so forth...
