I built a son of a gun that has given me nothing but problems when it comes to audio. Will take your advice but really wondering if others are having similar problems with ASUS Mobo.

First problem surfaced when connecting a new UAD thunderbolt device. It could not play a wav file in Windows. Went to expense of buying cables and new thunderbolt card and it's a no go. Finally mfg. admits Buyer beware don't be me, UAD and ASUS don't mix well.

Settled into a Tascam US 20X20 interface which provided some relief with large buffer. However in Cakewalk and Audition I can be working along and poof the programs disappear. The Ample 3.X instruments crashes Cakewalk every time. Every time windows updates I can have a whole different machine. If you think Microsoft is not experimenting with your machine, think again.

I keep the machine updated all updates. Not overclocking. I think ASUS mobo's have audio issues period. My Win7 ASUS never crashed much. Any ASUS builders have issues? Thanks!

I had the thunderbolt issue with UAD Arrow, twist one up, you are fine. Maybe seek alternates interface wise. $$$

Have you tried changing clock speed in the ryzen master app instead of in bios? Also bios version might be an issue, try reflashing to previous version? Bios has wooped muh ass before...

Maybe mr.soundworks could use a glass of wine or two also at this point. I personally hardly ever drink, I'm more a doobie kind of guy.

    I´ve got a Tascam 1608.
What I can say is, the drivers are not the best.
    Especially with win10.
Maybe there you find your main problem.
(Maybe not, I saw there is a newer 2019 driver.)

OP, you have in your sig that you have 64GB RAM! This might sound like a wacky idea, but might that be the cause of your problems with this new PC or with Win 10? I hope you are telling every tech person you speak to that the system has 64GB RAM. Shoot6 me down but that is a ridiculously high amount of RAM.

First of all, the driver is the main problem with TB3 and Windows atm. I don't think Asus (or any other mobo for that) has any problem. Microsoft decided that the old -working- drivers are legacy so they issued their "new" DCH drivers. If you are using those drivers for your TB3 interface you need to completely uninstall them and install the old "legacy" drivers. The DCH drivers don't work with almost everything lol.
Oh and if you want peace of mind stop updating Windows all the time. That is if you are serious about stability, if it's just a hobby for you then you may do as you please.
    Cheers :)

Thanks Lemmy your device is USB 2.0. The 2020 is USB 3.0, the drivers have been rock solid since they update.
