Gawd I wish Ableton could do this. It's a hassle setting up some MIDI automations when you have to use two tracks of different kind.

 

I don't know if any other DAW can do this.

Convert to FLAC beforehand, then, YOu can do this in 1 step in REAPER with my "5.1 to 2.0 Downmix (L)" by silencing front & rear from https://github.com/junh1024/Reaper-Surround/ . ALso includes many other tools. Download & put everything in REAPER/Effects.

On top of it, did you know that you can even insert more than one VSTi into a single track for layering purpose?

 

Only the smaller file size, nothing else. Note that FLAC decoding is very CPU light though, but that's it.

 

@No Avenger I did not. I just assumed and defaulted to using folders. That is awesome.

 

That's the main benefit. But it means a lot. It means:

• WHen you seek, the latency will be smaller because the HD loads less data
• When you export stems, it will be quicker because the HD writes less data

Also, it's possible to tell if a FLAC is corrupted if it has a checksum. Cutting & joining is not reccomended for FLAC, there's WAvpack for that,.

 

@indianwebking I'm very sorry that I've not replied to you sooner. I've been resting up. Had four guys try and mug me, two of them tried bottling me. It's been a fun start to the New Year!

I'll take a look at that now. I don't really know many Linkin Park tracks, so hopefully I'll get the right part.
