Typically, buses number from 1 to who knows how many. Mono buses are single numbers (i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4...) and stereo buses are two numbers (1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8...), and you can send mono tracks to a stereo bus (at least in Pro Tools). I'm guessing it may have been inadvertently created or already present if you used a template from your DAW. What DAW are you using?

 

Very generally indeed a "2 Bus" is a stereo bus.
But usually the "2 bus" in a mixing situation is the bus you send all your subusses, your auxes, etc to. Sometimes people call it - imo inadequately- the master bus, but it's not what is called by your daw the Master. Don't touch this one, golden rule nothing on the Master. It is normally indeed the last one before the master.

If the above is correct, it is the masterbus.

could it be that hardware 2 bus..and DAW 2 bus mixing might be different things..

on google or youtube i found only hardware 2 bus...

i remember some here have a last 2 bus before mastebus ITB , thats why asked ......

 

I have that little voice in my head that says,"Ahh, another attention who..."

Sure, I simply find it easier for my gain structure itb. I create a "sub master" where processing takes place. The MF is left at unity (call it old habbit, not frankly indispensable in the digital realm), no processing fx, only monitoring tools.

Btw why the fuss about @Gyro Gearloose question ?

Same here. And in fact, I think some of Logic's templates come like that anyway. ie. Stereo Bus, and then Master.
But the Bounce button is on the Stero Bus, so the Master is just for your main out volume; which is the same as the volume slider in the tool bar of the daw. Which is all prior to the volume of your computer.

 

I think you should drop an 's' from fuss, just like everybody else (non UK) does with buss!

 

You know I forgot that more than one bus are buses and not busses.
But i think i have never written the plural of the vehicle kind of "bus".
And i don't have time to look back over my whole life right now.
I'll just keep it in mind going forward.

 

And remember, you can't spell bus(s) without us.
