but seriously that peak is horrible even with limiter,never do that or your mix will be ruined

 

According to him, don't limit/clip at all if you care about headroom.

 

Firstly, -1TP is mostly about the various platforms' target, so it makes absolutely sense.

Secondly, I've no clue what he's messing up but he is.

Since I'm a big sceptic, I made my own test:

• kick without EQ -0,1dB peak.
  
• kick with ReaEQ 100Hz, ~ -10dB, Q down to 0,2 -> -0,1dB peak or less (in Reaper the smaller the number, the narrower the band!)
  Only with extreme narrow Q the level is raised, but with (two different) linear phase EQs it is not.
• limiter with 7,5dB gain reduction did no harm to any transient at all.

This guy maybe needs to check his setup.

shitty & EDM /gay techno music doesn't care about true peak limiting neither RMS, CCIR or NAB. since it makes ppl shake themselves, buy lameshit J&B + Smirnoff and generate money. it haz to boom boom boom , and that's it.

 

That's a clear proof that he doesn't really understand what he's talking about and he wants to teach? ...next.
