Hi to all readers i have a mac desktop and i want to set it up th best way i can.
It has 4 trays for 4 hard drive spaces.
I have a 240gb SSD hard drive
2 1tb drives and a 500 gb hard drive

I want to install things like keyscape and kontakt with other plugings
will i be able to install a small part of each VST software onto the main drive and the rest of the programme onto the slave drive (onto one of the 1 tb drives) ?
what should be my best set up for these 4 drive bays ?

Yes that’s possible

Had a similar problem with my Hackbook
Omnispere just needs some alias
And in kontakt you can define the path so no problem there in terms of feasibility

Only advice a 240 gb SSD is very small for the Mac build (same as my Hackbook by the way)
(I got today only 20 Gb left, there are lot of AU plugins with weird paths like rapture from cakewalk )

And HDDs are slow (specaily 5400 rpm drives are a pain in the a..)
Keyscape can take up to 15 secs for loading a patch.
And Kontakt up to ten for such things like the Giant

So the setup is: large libarys on the fastest disk you have (properly a 7200 rpm disk if possible)

And Sample stuff and setups, Download path of your brower etc to the slowest.(except you got a 500Mbit + provider for your internet)

 

Synology make excellent multi bay drives. I run an 1819+ with a 10gBt card.You can purchase 8tb WD reds very cheaply and simply add them as your requirements grow.
With a 10gBt card you'll have astonishing load times. Waiting is the killer of inspiration.
