Techno has no drops.
If the drums in techno are removed the rest can be used very effectively in psytrance. EDM is much about feelings and melodies. Most EDM tracks fill the entire freq. spectrum not so in EDM. Its very hard to dance to techno. Songs evolve very slowly. EDM is so huge now that atleast there are a 100 sub genres of it. I gurantee almost everybody has listened to both types of music

but you realized demberto used edm vs techno...

its in first place a genre group not the dance music field....
future house is one of them i think..made mistake and called tech house edm...its not..but its electronic dance music yes..

so its the huge amount of ppl out there which use edm all the time when they talk bout the newer main floor riser music 4*4

so EDM is a burned term....some understand some seemingly refuse to understand...not adressed to anyone here in thread..

EDM..., it's almost a curse word!

 

EDM is the best. Just old people don't like it much

 

EDM is not a genre, it refer now more as an industry, the business side of the sound. Techno is a music genre with subgenre, same as house, hip hop or drum'n'bass.

But for the majority it's a name where they put every electronic genre inside, same as the term "techno" was used in the 90s or "electro" in the 00s.

So there is no comparison to be made betwen techno and EDM as one can be part of the other, or they can describe the same thing, depending of the person you talk with

 

EDM is the pop version of Electronic Music and virtually the most stupid one with dance purposes. It was mostly employed in the US to deliberately degrade the seriousness of Electronic Music and letting electronic music to gain admittance to stupid Billboard-ish magazines.

 

Pop, Future Pop, Bounce, Future House is the pop version of EDM. You can't call trap, dubstep as pop
