No, I do think the rest of the world is right my friend it's not an issue of that .
But let me ask you this
    From the perspective
    Of Cmajor, Ebmajor,Gbmajor,Amajor
All at the same time ( looking at all keys at once)
How do you spell Bdim7? I use BDFG# in the case so the person can easily grab the notes in this type layout just for ease of use.

  14. Actually, most of the famous jazz musicians in history as well as the rock, pop, reggae and most styles that have fame attached to it all reached their fame initially in their 20s.

  15. That's because they were frantically trying to impress girls.

Sorry, but writing forum posts about music theory in a forum isn't quite what I would refer to as "teaching".
I wasn't event critizing him for doing so.

The thing is, his question was: do you think music theory is worth learnibg. Hell yes!

But nobody asked him to write these overwhelming monologs which showcases more of what he knows than it actually teaches. It's like this unbeknownst guy you pass by on a party who you greet to be polite and he starts telling you his life story. That's how these monologues of posts feel to me. And I don't find them helpful - and I am trained in basic music theory. Imagine how someone feels who is completely new to this.

I am just feeling sorry for everyone who's trying to get into music theory as a means of deeper understanding of how to create nice chord progressions for his music for example and then he just gets hit over the head by these posts. It just feels like wasted time to me.

What's lacking in these posts very often is an explaination of underlying principles. I can't recall reading anything about why for example a dominant 7th chord is longing for resolution or why it's feeling uncomforting. I can't recall the term tritone in this context ever being mentioned in these posts. That's the important interval in dom 7th chords which evokes this feeling. Mentioned nowhere. Also not mentioned: why use dom 7ths... Instead I see scrolls and scrolls of patterns of notes stacked on each other. How tiresome ist this to read?

Don't you think that there is a correlation between the way this knowledge of music theory presented and how fast this thread went down the drain?

Anyway, I am not here to fight not to teach music theory since am a music producer and sound designer, not a composer.

Merry Christmas and Happy new year.

    Im out til 2020

I've made threads that cover the basics my friend go check them out. I been here 3 years doing it.
You have to consider how long things would be to describe everything over each time .
You would never get pasts the basics into even intermediate level cuz you'd fall asleep with your face in your bowl of soup amigo.
Have you considered that someone can read a bit stop and try it then go back later?
I think of that as 1 tiny consideration it does not look like you thought of therefore the whole situation appeared to you differently.( Through your lens
But I ask look at it with fresh eyes in those perspectives .
Have a great holiday or holidays
