I use this on bass a lot.. great plugin

 

Fun fact: I bought this last year for 20 Euros and almost never use it. IK Multimedia stuff is unstable and crashes Maschine from time to time on my system. I always save before opening IKM plugins. But for free it's a great 1176 clone for sure.

 

I played with compassion back in the days and it could create super aggressive drums, but in the end it was just too complicated as a daily a goto comp. I'll check out the demo of TrackComp2 though.

Just checking the demo of TrackComp 2 right now against the Black 76 and the Waves Api 2500 and the E CHannel Comp.

The API Model is ok but I still prefer the Waves. It has more movement and character. Especially the Thrust Settings.
The 1176 model is really bad imo. It distorts really quickly and badly and lacks the groovey/pumpy push and pull movement you get from the Black 76 when using all buttons in. Not feeling this one. The 160 model has that feel a bit, but the 1176 doesn't.
The E Channel comp was pretty close to the one in the BX E-Channel. I liked it. Especially in Parallel Mode. But I had to use a completely different threshold.

Overall,I think the parameters of the controls of TrackComp 2 are not designed very well. You have this incredibly long fader for the threshold, but most of it is unused because it's used for metering. So if you move the threshold fader a centimeter that's already -6 dB without you realizing it. Same goes for Attack and Release Times. Although you have the indicators for every model which show the lowest and highest times of the actual hardware, but the scaling is just something I am not comfortable with. That whole fader concept is not working for me. I still prefer the single plugins with needles and there stepped/fixed parameters. And the other plugins just sounded better to me. Especially the 1176 which I think is really awful in TrackComp 2 in comparison to other 1176 plugins.

 

They're both good. But they have a different character.
Softube has a round character. IK is more aggressive. More "In your face"! But not as aggressive as Waves.

I didn't care for TrackComp 2 either. Brighton Comp for N4 player is beast and similar to an 1176.

to install this.. do i have to install the entire catalogue of t-racks 5? or there is an option that i can only install the black76?

also will it break the other installed ik K'd plugin? such as sample tank or modo?
