. I think it's actually because he is disappointed of S1 move regarding W7 that he refered to XP.
Now obviously devs just follow M$ lead on the matter, also it suits them to not have teams devoted to W7 for their soft support and dev, it has a cost.
Why care about the people who allows them to make a living when they can arm wrestle them into an OS change ?
All is good in the world. Even old farts consider that you gotta get on with the progam, evolutionism is the way.
Won't shead a tear when they euthanize them for the sake of "progress" !

I use Windows 7, my machine have a another ssd with win 10 and everything installed, i tried a lot of times, but i'm not fast as win 7. My main daws are cubase and ableton. Thanks god ableton work in any of them pretty well and thats whay is the more modern daw for certain kind of music. Cubase piss me off because windows 7 is the fastest system in the world when you take off windows aero. Everyday i put windows aero, open cubase and take off windows aero with it opened. This is annoying, and because of that i'm always trying to find a daw to replace cubase.
Windows 10 is much more beautiful, but is a pain in the ass. maybe for people that use small projects will not feel difference.
People like Hans Zimmer ,that has a team always studying what is best to use, is still on windows 7.
By the way: i prefer reaper over this daw also:wink:

I forgot to say abuot a lot of problems with audio interfaces in win 10. Like not accepting sample rate in 44100khz, bugs stoping audio when opening daws, even when configured the audio like it works in win 7. And graphical legs and bugs tweaking plugins in big projects when the same projects run flawlesly in win 7.

Microsoft will not support windows 7 anymore, will not have updates, whats is disabled for years in my system. I don't need a update for win 7, just to be like it is. and update programs etc. Maybe someday i will be forced to go to win 10. And i hope a have a desktop mac when that happens, because i hate this shit system.

i 'don't care dude, i don't have ego about daws or operation systems, i just want something that work and don't understand directions of some companies take.
Studio one is pretty crappy on mac too. all the buttons stop working after a while in not so big sessions.

Windows 10 sucks in some things, yes. And I also like Windows 7, but it's like more than a decade old.

Because Micro$oft said so, or because there is a better alternative? :dunno:

I bet some of us are even older than that.

You're correct sir, nevertheless there is a way how to continue support. The way Win7 will end is through forced incompatiblility through one of micro$oft's frameworks, VS2019, VCC and dotnet. No updates is a minor setback, and the kernel is very similar to 8.1 and 10.
I suppose there will be a way to circumvent it - as even with VS2012 there was a compatibility mode, which had to be enabled for WinXP, and which Native Instruments left intentionally blank back in 2014 with their 5.4.0 Kontakt.

Anyways, I'm rather convinced linux distros are a way forward - with properly configured wine prefix, loaded with native DLLs from Win.

So far only iZotope RX7 gave me issues under wine, by refusing to load at all.
    All VSTi worked fine

UPDATE:They didn't learn how to remove plugins &^$%^#!!
still crashing removing plugins or even closing, other daws work with same versions/format (MacOS 10.2+)

Also mixing net code with daw is not good idea. (maybe ok for Richard Devine) Or made one "Cloudy" version.

Is this problem on win version?
Jeskola Buzz was much more stable :guru:

Well it started on a date format debate. A very important question. Somewhat the OS talk get us closer to the topic at hand....What was it again ? Ah ! S1.
Progress on the patern side. Small update. But well. Just a 4.6.
Ah, The shop. The shop in the browser. Good old mall in the middle of my daw. Shoppy, shop, shop.
    Super.
Kind of like W10 on this one.

Idea from new management "Lets boost sale, remove all quality from plugins and samples, let them to shop for same plugin/sample but with more quality"
