I did a "weight loss" of all Waves bloatware few months ago and till now i'm fine. I used only few plugins from that huge package and i succesfuly replaced them by other plugins of the same quality or even better.

 

I agree with you... I would never install Waves Complete except for old project compatibility... Actually i use just 3 their plugs and that is EQ10 and RVOX, and HDelay.... But i have to install whole collection and messing with registry and HDD space i must install the whole package.
I wish like R2R will make in the next update like earlier was done by Team AiR to give to us so we can install separate plugins.... Please R2R!!!

 

everyone is at a different stage but sure, for way to many effects, plugins and daws are just a way to scape the actual task of making music further than a couple of bars then start a new "project"...

thats why i often say its a matter of maturity, when you realize what your priorities should be

 

I know a professional handy man who threw away all his tools and only kept a hammer and some nails. Makes sense, lol?
People panic because they never learn their tools and think such drastic measures will help them.

 

I started buying hardware synths a few years ago. Completely changed how I work and totally stopped me obsessing about collecting software.

I did have a slight relapse when I bought a Digitakt though. I started downloading drum samples again. I need to go back to just using the stock sounds and a tiny handful of others.

 

I keep all my plugins limited to what I buy. But even if I try B4 buy , I eventually delete them !!

I find I do the same way in my studio , as my racks behind me at my mix desk have very sweet piece's,
I keep them to a 'minimum' as much as I can. ("except for patch bays .... juz luv me some patch bays !!")

 

Crack is addictive!

 

So some of you spent all your time downloading and hording instead of learning and evaluating and successfully using these plugins in production and now you are throwing it all away.
You had no finished projects and now you will also get rid of the only advantage you had by throwing thousands of dollars worth of quality tools away.
It has nothing to do with addiction, you brain is not organized and you also have no real world respect for these tools because you paid no money for them and dont feel the need to turn that investment into something good.

 

Sounds nice, but too good to be true. The quality you get would be quite a disaster.
You just need a quality declipper, quality DC and stereo offset correction plugins, a stereo imaging tool, some harmonics plugin, a transient shaper, some de-edging filter, a dynamic EQ, a dithering plugin and a metering plugin, de-esser, etc. Not to mention audio restoration tools (for those who do it).
You'll get them back, one by one, you'll see.
And being informed about breaking new plugins, and getting them, that means self improvement.
For some older ones, you might even ask for a PM link...

I observed a bit late, the guy from video is kinda YT video content maker, he respond to all comments. If youre in music business you don't have time to check all the comments.
Anounce me when Scheps, Chris Lord, Greg Wells...and another big names in music industry are throw theirs plugins then i belive its a good thing.

It might be more constructive to CREATE instead of CONSUME.

I'm with you @Gyro Gearloose , I absolutely fell for the hoarding thing years ago as when plugins were a "new' thing, it seemed to broaden the palate, but when I realized I had bloated to 1000+ of them etc, i mean, come on... I 80% use just stock, 15% stuff I purchased, and the other 5% floating out there is being tested/try before buy etc.

I will say he sister site has saved me thousands of dollars in bad investments on shit products, and I will say it has helped steer purchasing decisions. But I also believe in supporting the hard work of good developers out there with my purchasing dollar, and at the end of the day, I've made records with ZERO plugins (as they didn't exist.... well Digidesigns DINR perhaps.. but OT....)... Back then I learned how to squeeze everything I could out of the limited gear and instruments in front of me, and got more done then browsing damn presets in Spire or whatnot. I know it's a competent synth, but I haven't even instantiated Omnisphere in well over 2 years as a. I hear the known sounds in every commercial/advert out there, b. just could lose an afternoon down a rabbit hole to find a fucking bass patch... fuck that... I have a Moog Minitaur and a Roland SE02 and a Fender P Bass. I'm good.

I haven't had the guts to mass delete as I have many legacy projects that utilize say one plug in for something important and it was the ONLY time I have ever used it again etc.. as wanted to see what it could do (and generally that is how I try out new products is by writing a song with them etc....but if they aren't inspiring,.... they aren't looked at again....)...

But yeah, I should just clone my boot drive, clean install, and just put the damn daw stock stuff in, soundtoys, valhalla, NI, and call it a day for the most part.

 

So true... As a "old'" man who's been Blessed or "Fortunate"/ "Lucky" (As some would say) to have 4 top 10's under his belt in the late 90's this confirms what I've been feeling for the last 2 years. Instead of concentrating on "Keepin' Up" with the "Newest Of Z New" I should've stuck to the basics of what I was taught in Germany as Soldier by a very wise German man called Wolfgang and that was, "Get one good keyboard, MASTER all you can do with it because most things you can do with the "new" keyboards i can do with that Memorymoog sitting over there that I've mastered'...

I realize now that my problem Is i've always tried to separate myself from the crowd by having beatz that weren't "Normal" by having a unique sound that wasn't your typical radio BS; but I got lost with trying to "Keep Up" with the current "Sound" (Y'all know what I'm talking about, the same trap drums/Samples in "Ev'ry" (Every lol) pack but I HADDDD to have the latest sounds ) instead of simply concentrating more on finishing productions/Maintaining a Media presence to get my music heard today as I didn't have all the options or distractions i did back then....Orrrrrr 'Bottom Line" as I call it....Just be encouraged like before and get past that "Fear Of Failing"...I should know better, it's not what you got it's how you use it.....Yeah, the writings on the wall, time to go "Plug-in Cold Turkey" and get back to the basics. Wish me luck!!!!

yeah ok, but how to mix a vocal without a decent compressor? (inertia, feedback, crest factor)
Decent ping pong delay? decent pitch correcting? (don't say pitcher) multiband gating? (like ns-1?)

 

When I was a kid I had a huge collection of stamps from all over the world, all days I spent hours sorting out my albums or just watching them for pure joy. I think I´m a natural born collector and now plugins are filling the space that stamps left empty years ago. Of course I have deleted some after trying them, but I treasured all the others. And I think my creativity or the lack of it has nothing to do with the space they fill in my HD. Cheers.

I've bought all my daws, plugins and synths. The resulting unlimited choices causes anxiety in that their acquisitions over the years cost a lot and are being horribly underutilized. Of course it's nearly impossible to use every thing and every feature anyway but nonetheless having infinite choice leads to inaction. This is a very common problem apparently.

There's nothing wrong with having all this stuff/tools in and of itself. What's lacking is discipline (in me I know). Like many of us, I have a ton of material that never gets completed. Discipline required! So many times I tried, 'right, I'm gonna do the 'trick' of limiting my choices' but then get sucked into diddling around with everything all over again, lol.

 

Hahah well thanks! The only way i know and i was read about was on sister site , and says that i have to delete manualy plugins in Waves APP folder... But that is not what i meant , because that is bloating my system with registry entries etc ,and i dont like that...
I dunno, because of plugins i use i have to find that old AiR or maybe was even R2R release where i was able to select what i want to install. Much convenient way...
I find V.R. release of their cloud live installer very good, but plugins got a timebombed after some time or keeps crashing every now....
I must find last AiR release and to try that instead.... I love and respect R2R but that is too much.... That counts to Arturia also, i dont use 20% of that pack but i have to install it , because it is release from R2R and for sure more secure and stable that V.R.-s release.
For me on some APPS from V.R still are NO-NO.

I remember the time when i was avoiding also team ASSING (now R2R) when they was starting and AiR struggled with their cracks.
Nowdays R2R compared to V.R. is like AiR was at the time to Team ASSIGN .... History repeats hahahah

 

he deleting ? he iz famous. he has too much money. he deleting only for more votes. i bet all those (or new ones) plugins are back.
