After years of working with "live" n "real" instruments more and more of my work has ended up with more sampled based (mostly drums) music. Ofc in my own music i prefer to mix the best from both worlds.

Anyhow, my biggest struggle is to handle and organize all theese drum samples ive collected over the last few years. Sure ive got them already pretty nice organized in folders etc but that also makes it very hard to browse and find what i really need.

So i wonder if there is any sample manager that can help. I know of loopcoud and ADSR but yeah, but i dont like the way its set up with the online connection to their sites and so on. And as far as i have come to understand is that they dont have any file comparison between samples. Would love to have a function that can scan and somehow compare filename and size together with maybe some kind of analysing tune etc.

If anyone has a good idea of something that has function i look for or maybe all of them please give me a hint on where i can check them out. Havnt really found anything useful by googlogooli.

    Be safe all

    +1 for Resonic
Probably the closest to what the O.P is looking for.

Sononym is my fav so far for Windows, and i'm quite sure it will cover your needs. It's also avail for Linux and macOs. And if you 're somehow totally broke, it appeared a couple of months ago on the sister site :winker:. Official site here: https://www.sononym.net/
    Introductory video here:

Samplism is good too, but macOS only: https://audiohelperproject.com/products/samplism/

Lastly, i don't know if it can be of any help but Acid Pro includes a sample manager called Media Manager. It is based on a modified version of Microsoft's SQL database. It's old but it does the job nicely. The caveat is, there is no way that i know of, to run this outside Acid, it is a feature that you enable from Acid's preferences menu.
Hope you find what you 're looking for,
    Cheers

Thanks alot guys.. I will take a look at a few of your suggestion. Resonic looks really good and i totaly forgot about atlas and XO. I actually checked synonym out and it has most of what i lock for but lacks importent things. or atleast i couldnt find it cause i was very tired. I hope to be able to get help finding samples that could be just about the same so i can start to remove, Get some kind of go to base folder. Thanks guys..

that's the point. I also used to slice stuff.(beatcleaver) Long stems etc to save space ane easy audition.
I wish Resonic woudl have sample editing built in like normalise, chop, trim etc
I wrote the author lomng time ago (wanted to check out the pro) but he never answered lol
Looks liek tehy do not wantmy money/ support

I tried sononym but I I still prefer to just quickly audition samples and sort them by hand.
The suggestions are great but not really useful for me.

XO is fun to collect drum samples tho and its attenuator function is useful either

The perfect sample manager for me would be a combination of: AudioFinder + Resonic + BeatCleaver + Wavelab's Loop Tweaker

@taskforce , Synonym does look indeed quite handy, I imagine it scans all this into a database obviously (which I imagine could get quite large depending on the size of different users library !)....

I'm not the OP, but hell, we all need a little organizational help once in awhile right? :)
