It's funny how everybody's shouting "Acustica Audio is the best" when it's about accuracy of analog emulations and sound quality...
But as soon as it is about not about mixing but production where it's all about low latency and efficiency it gets very quite very quickly - for obvious reasons. ;)

Sound is the top priority. Acustica plugins are very fuctional. Some of you guys on here act like they are unusable and if they are, you seriously have a very shitty computer.

I agree. Also I don't know any ambitious emulations that aren't costly on CPU (well except AirWindows plugs ofc).
Slate, waves, PA. Try stacking any summing tools, strips or anything on any decent sized projects. I don't know anyone who doesn't use the freeze function in those cases.
But no. Not with AA plugs; You have to run 2000 in one session, or it's not good. Lol.

I have an i7 6700k running at 4.8 GHz and 32 GB of RAM and NVME drive. Not the latest of tech but far from shitty I would assume.

I didn't say that they are unuseable orunfunctional, my experiences are just different. With the freebees I tested they usually required double the CPU cycles that a "traditional" plugin of the same kind did. And I didn't see the benefit of sacrificing these resources for the small gain in audio fidelity they provided. Because I can compensate this with my skillset and the plugins I already own and know.

    You playful m*%$*%"*%
    Ok, you earned it: OTopic.

It's a matter of balance like in many things. But obviously AA plugins are big on both CPU and RAM.
If you have a very powerful PC no problem. Below that, you don't need a lot of instances to have issues. Also, there're other plugins and soft running.

Those small gains add up to big gains when used throughout the mix... Any experienced producer or mix engineer would know that... There's a reason why most the top level engineers still use a ton of hardware. The difference these days between plugins and hardware is not huge but they will spend the extra time(and way more money), deal with recall, and all the other annoying shit from hardware to squeeze out any extra quality possible. It is worth the hassle if you really care about the quality of your music.

Totally wrong. Porn consumes 2% CPU at 4K with an average card. It just consumes hand&arm stuff... toilet paper maybe...
I still rated you funny because your avatar's cool  Well, your opinions are kinda funny too.

See? Men's (friends) know about this stuff...

Hat's off, sir/madam. It's true they consume some CPU, but I don't care for the (amazing) quality I get from them. The discrete compressor on Aquamarine is amazing, the transients just poke you in the eye. Also, Ultramarine is beautiful and takes a serious amount of CPU. I don't care about using 30% CPU when using Taupe with El Rey. I just freeze stuff and move on.

With a fucking good sounding mix.

    Cheers,
    D.
