Wow. Amethyst, Water and Crimson at less than 40€. Big Ceil at less than 30€....Even around 50 there are some absolutely golden plugs (Cola, Honey). Cola is incredible the comp is insane. I actually prefer it to sand for the dr bus. It glues things like nothing else (well maybe el rey, but even at -50% it's still a 130€ product !)

Tough choice, they are all very nice and different.
Crimson is mainly a disto unit. It's modeled after vertigo sound VSM-2 (P.A also has an emu of that unit), and the comp after VSC2 compressor. The disto unit is lovely. But beware : this is imo the most cpu hungry acqua of them all. Right now you can't track with it, you have to freeze, which is unusual with distortion. There are no other acquas I have to freeze with like 2 instances top. V2 should come out soon (and upgrade are always free with Acustica)), since it's one of their only product with Ebony and a couple of others that hasn't been updated yet since they've been updating them all. It should be more manageable after the update (hopefully), but right now it's a very serious restriction.
The other two don't have that issue, you can load quite a few of them, either strips or individual units.
Obviously it's matter of taste. Cola emulates the Cadac G 228 EQ, the Astronic 1671 nine band graph eq,Vortexion Mixer and the comp is the Cadak A505 VCA. It's the rarest of the three you're envisionning, specially the comp. I love that comp, first I barely touched it tbh, I have a lot of acquas, but I've testing it since a couple of weeks, now it's all over my projects it replaced my fav other acquas comps (exept El Rey). Funny since it's a comp/limiter that was used a lot in 70's rock and it's not really my genre, but well...The EQs are vintage. Really something which is not reminiscent of the other usual suspects (neve, api, etc), it's its own sound, really good too.
Finally Water2 is even "vintagier", since it comes from the middle of the 60's. The comp/limiter is a WSW 601430s (WSW comes from Siemens) from 1968,eq is WSW 436511 solid state passive equalizer from 1961.
Can't say it's bad, actually it's also lovely, I just very subjectively prefer Cola !
You still have time to test them before the deals close !

XLN Audio has some pretty significant discounts going on. XO ($179) is on sale for a much more reasonable $98. I’ve had my eye on that plug-in for a while. Sale ends tonight tho. If I get home early enough to play around with it I may pick it up

Can you believe I had missed the fact that they added a reverb in the package when they updated ? :woot:
Had no idea Fairchild had done some reverb. Gotta test that.

Yeah I understand the sentiment. When I rise my latency to 1024 and can finally use one or two without everything breaking I actually love it. I also have the VSM3 by Vertigo/P.A and it's a fine emu, but tbh I always prefer Crimson when I compare. Really hope that A.A finds a way to make it less a ressource cannibal !

    hehe, the reverb is nice,
but the compressor was the main reason I bought this channel strip.
today I´ve bought me EBONY, now that´s a really good sounding reverb!
the included comp is also very handish in combination.
(also I´ve tried the Pensado EQ, but I need more time with it, before I deside to bye or not)
    so in sum I got SCARLET(Master EQ), ULTRAMARINE(Comp&EQ), EBONY(Reverb), TAUPE(Tape/Saturation)
after many years of try before bye I´ve decided for Acustica Audio + some FabFilter, and that´s it.
didn´t need any more the next months, and hopefully years!

Great purchases. Taupe is so nice. Always used Satin before, never since. I like the comp in taupe too.
Ebony does rock. Check those EQs, the ones that are activated by default. I always use those on keys ! Can't wait that those two get their updates. Taupe, ebony, crimson, orange eq, white eq, blue eq, lime, cobalt, emerald, green, lemon (the delay), and pearl. Those are the last they have to upgrade to the latest Core (think it's 14 now, lost count).
Great choice of a mastering eq too, the homebrew somtec, precise but soo musical.
Lol, I also rely on top notches pure digital tools next to AA offerings. I'm more a DMG Audio, also Flux and Voxengo kind of guy, but FabFilter make top things too. I feel more confortable with other devs tools, matter of workflow, but FF offerings crosse every t, etc. Real great tools.
