    Any ideas?
Very interesting - such a cool distortion vibes like almost clipping, that frequency range, smashed loud harshness, analog dirt... FX chains maybe?
Tried some chains with clean sounding arabic/indian string orchestra, but not there.

Yea, I know a lot about sound, how-to, but stuck with that stuff, can't make it too close. Maybe it is something about their techniques, their old indian analog gear and maybe it is difficult to do with digital plugin emulations we all have. Don't know. Maybe some of you guys had some experience, some chains? Maybe some overdriven preamps? A lot of old broken tube saturators, bad tapes, shitty mics and their freq range emus, other old cheap fkng gear?

To achieve this you have to take a step back, and start from the source, old takes used to sound a little bit more dark, than nowaday's, first of you need to "eq" the sound source taking anything beyond 8k (6 or 8dB/oct) you can even use some of the mic emulation like the ones offered by stale, IK multimedia, or even the free townsendlabs plugin if you can bypass the stereo input trick, even though the "source" selected on the plugin might not correspond with the one you actually used, this might make wonders on it's own, try it, experiment with it, and see what works, later on you can use saturation like a channel strip, or check Arturia's new comps, pushing the input hard, introduce some harmonic distortion that are pleasant and useful to achieve a certain sound or tone, another trick is boosting 500mhz, two or three dBs, plus and try 1500Mhz, those too are like a secret frequencies, lastly use Omega N, and crank that shit up, and see what you get.

keep us updated, and have fun.

Sometimes i just want very old crappy vintage vibes. Got tired of always super clean sounds with not enough but subtle analog) retro artefacts are still the magic, nostalgy and lifeness)

It's great to have those vintage dreams, but reality is different.
We all use digital equipment not because it sound better, but because

    It's cheaper:
Any high-quality digital sound equipment will be less pricey than first-grade analog sound equipment

    it’s more practical:
No cables, no audio patchbay to plug into, no soldering iron, no unwanted noises etc..

    Editing is waaaaay faster:
Anyone who has ever worked with reel2reel knows what I'm talking about: Revox, flanges, nab adapters, cutter, pre-cut adhesive tape, white pencil, ruler to measure quarters, eights, sixtheens on tape, talc powder for the hands, cotton swab for heads and capstan, spaghetti tapes on the floor everywhere....

    Distribution/sharing is 1 click away:
Imagine if you have to ground-mail a demo cassette to all the members of a band to let them check if the mix is going in the right direction

    Speaking as a pro:
NO, I would never go back to the 30 years ago workflow. If you’re obsessed with listening to music with that “warmth that feeds the soul”, then there are a lot of analog simulation plugin (and some of them sounds really analog)
