I narrowed it down to these 2 cards.

Thanks, but I am still new to all this technology stuff, so I am going with something commercial because I still don't what any of this stuff do. I just need to know which of these 2 cards is better.

  4. If the choice was mine I'd go for the Asus, but looking at the pictures carefully I can see a 4-pin molex connector at the back of the card, so you'll need a spare molex in your machine. The molex is the connector that powers hard drives, most machines have a few knocking around inside, but check before you buy, these are the kind of doodads that'll add dollars faster than you can laugh if you need to add an extra one.

The Creative has a load of add-ons that are basically not much use unless you're going to be doing a lot of gaming. Which is what the Creative is: a high-end gaming card.

The Asus looks better made, and won't be sucking your PCIe for all it's power.

    Meh. Asus.

Thanks, I do play a lot games on my computer but the number one focus is music/films. Can you give me more details on just what the add-ons do for gaming? So, the asus is better for music and films right?

  6. The gaming optimizations are in the info sheet: like being optimized for Core£D and offloading DirectX sound prox from the CPU. Great for games, less than useful for sound. Also you need to buy a daughter board if you want quality inputs. You may be VSTi only, but everybody needs a line in sooner or later. Like when your bass player comes round or you buy your first hard synth. I'd buy the Asus. You have to choose for yourself. The Creative will do the job.
