Hi,

I am just starting out with digital music production. I'm on MacOS mojave, with K'd logic pro. I just bought a used s49 mk1, to start getting into music theory with the guide lights on the S49 and introduction to production. The seller did not have access to the KK Select license that should come with the controller. I already emailed NI about this, I'm assuming this will be a dead end.

I downloaded dada's Komplete 12 package that comes with KK 2.1.2. Will it run with my K'd Logic, and will this support this used S49 Mk1, that is already registered to someone else? Lastly, will this be a good long term solution? I paid around EUR150 for this, just that I don't want to have a keyboard that I can't use 10 months / 2 years down the line.

It works. Software will recognize the hardware and you will be able to use it without problems

 

I never use mine with KK, as for me KK is a train wreck. Doesn't mean the keyboard isn't useful at all...

 

Long term , yes ... You have all the sounds in one vst ... and Maschine .... Bonus ...

 

The seller should transfer the serial codes for the Hardware and any Software to you. It's done via the NI website. So contact the seller, as they have these and not up to NI.

Also, your cracked software will work as it's just a midi keyboard. But I'd still get what you rightly own, from the seller.

Used Maschine Mk1 with a cracked Maschine Software no Problems. (Little Snitch or some kind of firewall should be in the background for safety. and no unwanted communication)

The MK1s are great, Fatar Keys.
€150 is a good price for it

49 Keys are still a good size. (I need an 88 Keys with hammerkeys mostly because I like the feeling of a real -semi real Piano most. )

If you can live with a non-full Key, yes this can be a good longtime solution.
(With a bit of cleaning from time to time Keyboards can work up to 30 - 40 Years .(maybe more with low humidity )

The seller is an auction house, they don't have the owner's details unfortunately. Genuinely curious, If this is the case, why doesn't NI transfer the license themselves if I send them a proof of purchase?

How do you usually use it? Also, have you found the light guides useful without KK?

 

NI will not help you at all if buying used without transferring the Komplete Select serial. You can get legit Komplete Kontrol for free now, though. K's work fine.

It's very unlikely that NI will change anything which can effect a keyboard compability (For them it's not a big deal I believe.)(There are two big groups one who believes that K´ed Software will help to increase sales and one who believe it's bad forsales)
(Native is first one) (they got one of the weaker protections. And they got the money and right Programmers to do some crazy hardcore protection if they want to) So I think no problems for the next years.
