I have to go play in some places where there are foreigners (people from other English-speaking countries). And I doubt my pronunciation a little, I would like if you can give me an opinion if it is very bad, more or less, good, or what needs to work.

I'm distinguishing between 'accent' and 'pronunciation'

Your accent is really nice and adds character - don't try to change that.

The pronunciation is fine almost everywhere.
There are two phrases where the lyrics could be made clearer...
1. "All your Life"
2. "Dark Black Night"

 

I didn't find it distracting and might not have noticed if it weren't pointed out, but would agree that it seems you struggled a bit with "all your life". Didn't hear any issues with "dark black night" though, save for maybe a little hard for you to hit that note.

Overall though, good job on the song.. nice cover.

 

As someone who cringes when the English Language is ruined, I can honestly say don't change a thing. I thoroughly enjoyed that!

 

Only one thing. If you stop thinking about it (like oh there's a "r" here and there's an "sh" over there), you will "spit" the words easier and more naturally. You may make errors but you will get the hang of it eventually. Focus on what matters most, your performance.

Nope, that's a common American English grammatical error. The describing word for a 'verb' like 'speak' should be an 'adverb' not an 'adjective' like 'good'.

 

I'm so excited. They are unbelievable people. Thank you for taking the time to listen and having given so many constructive responses. I live in the capital of Argentina (Buenos Aires) and the pubs and bars are very select with respect to the promotion of English, as many tourists go there, and I always do less. So ask yourself... and why not play in Spanish? Well, here people have devotion to English-speaking interrelationships. Pink floyd, zeppeling, red hot, Beatles, etc. Then I have to polish my repertoire. And now I feel much more confident. A million thanks friends, from the bottom of my heart.

 

The common slip many English as a second language speakers fall into (especially German volken) is the mispronunciation of words that have a "th" in them such as the words this, that and the. You are pronouncing it as a hard D sound which can take the focus of your performance away from your work when native speakers are listening.

Also, try not to slide up to a note and instead prepare yourself to sing it head on. It is like playing football, you anticipate the ball coming towards you and react before hand and not all of a sudden move when the ball is upon you. It takes practice like all things do.

The only things I would mention would be Lois' point about 'Th' sounding a little like "D".

And, to my ears, when you say "take" (as in "take these broken wings etc") it sounds a little like "Ch". So, the way you do it sounds (a little) like the T/Ch in Bowie's "Ch-ch-ch-changes....." rather than the T in A-Ha's "Take On Me".

But I certainly wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!

I agree! It's not the accent but "the voice" which makes the song for me.
Also it's refreshing not to hear the usual american accent immitation which I find a bit annoying and contrived.
