I think the cinematic sample libraries are the most expensive you can find on the Internet. You can find this kind of libraries which often comes in Kontakt format from Sample Logic, Soundiron, Sonokinetic, Heavyocity, and more other companies. I reviewed many cinematic libraries so far and they are great even for making music, not just soundtracks and trailers.

Artists don't hire people Composer's and producer's make songs and sell them to artists, they make adjustments to it but no artists don't pay people to make them samples at least in the professional world.

As for expensive sample libraries. E/W used to be the worst, and half of their stuff was crap. Vir2 was taking that spot for awhile after they put out Electri6ity they started charging 400+ for 1-2gig libraries of abstract crap. But then they kinda died when other companies stepped up and made their products look like convoluted jokes.

But honestly some are overpriced for a reason. It's the company's marketing to say "it costs this much because you've been playing with toys before this" it's a way to say your product is the next gen, regardless if it is or not. Gotta remember in this business they have no expectations of ever selling multiple copies to a single person they only need you to buy it once. So if you fork over the overpay and it sucks they still got their money and they never had expectations of needed return customers or they just make some new marketing excuse on the next product to try to get the same suckers back.

Other than that I have some that I would consider outrageous but I use them so much I've already made 100,000x my money back on them. So while I want to bitch about the intial investment can't because in the end it was worth it.

Personally I think NI itself puts out overpriced crap. Most of the stuff they come out with sounds like crap and they still charge premo because the NI name is on it. But then again look at pro-tools, almost every daw can out do pro-tools but it's about the name. because we all loving paying 800-1k for pro-tools when reaper can emulate pro-tools for 70 bucks lol.

This is just a scam. Just like the reviews if you read them they're fake as shit. And having "verified purchase" or whatever is a con to make you believe it. By Flutes of fire I think this guy is just high as shit trying to run a scam. 10k for loops bwahahahaha verified buyers my ass.

Looking at it further bwahahah. I like how they moved all the fake "verified buyer's" to the front page, but if you go to the second page it's just hundreds of people making fun of them. Looploft must be pretty stupid to keep this up. Not to mention the musician behind flutes of fire doesn't exist. The flute virtuoso doesn't exist, look him up nothing. I'm hoping this was an april fools joke the company forgot to take down or their just fucking morons.

It's a long running joke by the Loop Loft. But on a marketer's point of view, it's a perfect story, and that's why they never took it down.

Probably off topic but I remember seeing an interview with Hans Zimmer where he said that he and his team have their own sample libraries of unique intstruments played by specific people, and they've been using those for many years. I found that pretty unique, considering that in the end they're gonna record their compositions with real orchestras anyway as soon as they create the music for the movies they score.

Hans still does a lot of his works with sample based libs, only the unusual sounds are recorded specificly for him, yet played with samplers like those tension string parts in Batman. I don´t think he uses that much real orchestra any more

In his interviews he advocates using live orchestras because he said its a diminishing practice and the musicians need to be supported. I think I heard he uses vsti's to do some fixing and touchups.

Definitely the highest cost winner as far as I know. The funniest part is on that products page description at the end:

"Order today and you'll be done shopping for orchestral sounds." <----

Oh yeah, you'll be done shopping for anything after spending that much! :hahaha:

The Black Octopus stuff is generally more on the expensive side... Freshly Squeezed Samples has more fair prices for big packs, at least for older packs (who are as big as Leviathan), but the newer packs there are as expensive https://www.freshlysqueezedsamples.com/dave-parkinson-trance-essentials-volume-2.html

The Problem of those big packs is, that you don't really need everything, so maybe it's more wise to buy more smaller packs for less/the same price. Do you really need 500 kicks in one pack?

Hollywood edge ones are very expensive. probably somewhere near the top of the list.
    1500 for hard drive copy

    Product Specifications
    • 25,310 sound effects
    • 280 GB @ 24/96
    • Broadcast wav files in 2 formats
    • Digitally recorded in Stereo on HD

I bumped into a sample seller and can't find it again. This guy in New Zealand makes these very high quality recordings of noises and foley, etc. They were super expensive, more than Hollywood edge. sorry, but cannot find the link...

somehow thats what i think right now. What its worth, if the sound library is used by some1 else - uniqueness is just not overvalued by anything expensive.
