Omnisphere is a f*cking flexible rompler with synthesizer section, editing etc! It has a Hardware Libraries. Tons of GBs. Stop this shit guy.

I was giving these same arguments about Omnisphere on a Nexus thread on Gearslutz,and all guys bashed me.

 

Rompler is a Read Only Memory player, but in Omnisphere we can change the sound, edit alongside synthesis etc. But it is reading libraries from folders, but you can't change them fully, you just changing the sound inside Omnisphere2, not libraries files rewriting.
It is like CD-ROM, we can read(play) cd, use eqs, processing while playing, rip it, edit sound on PC, but not resave on this CD-ROM, remove data.

Everything more than Rompler can’t be Rompler per definition am I right?

Like mild pump milk wrote Rompler is a Read Only Memory player
Omnisphere 2 can more than read ONLY memory
It´s a hybrid synth with rompler even maybe weak Sampler and synth features. (You can revers Samples and cut ends off ... )
And there are possibility to use FM,Unison and some other stuff to its Samples . (Which could be considered as Synthesis with some Strange Oscillators )

Maybe a little off topic
In Falcon everything is an Oscillator even the Sampler.
Many things are Rompler style Libraries but is Falcon a Rompler?
And what's the main different between an Oscillator and a Sample. In therms of Audio both thing produces a periodic, oscillating signal. One is artificial and one recorded.


(Consider this, as long something can write presets to your Drive, it's not really a Rompler.
I know it's a bit quibble, but technically correct )

So Serum is a Rompler as well ?
It can't write samples on your Drive.
You can save presets (which can Omnisphere as well )

Can you change the Factory Wavetables of Serum ?

Or better example is Zebra 2 a Rompler.
It can only write presets. Serum at least could export Wavetable

Nexus is pretty shwag. Sound design is easily the most enjoyable part of making music for me, so using romplers always seemed pretty lame to me. Serum has endless creative limits and bitch slaps nexus

 

nexus it was good 15 years ago but for now it's outdated .. many more possibilities with other tools ....

 

At the very beginning, when I did not know anything, Nexus was great, but more and more I realize that there are better VSTi on the market.
Nexus has GB big libraries with great sounds, but like many times above, these sounds have too much blast.
And in the mix Nexus had no place compared to the other VSTi's I use.

I noticed very quickly that I have much more possibilities with Serum to change sounds (presets) or to create my own.

 

Over the years i've noticed how much people like to bash both Nexus and Tone2. Seems like a sport of some kind with champs and loosers.
Personally i use and enjoy both. Over the years, i've come to use more and more of Omnisphere, Zebra and Diva but nonetheless. These synths gave me and still give me a wonderful time. So i will not join the pack of dogs and bark pointlessly. At the end of the day, it's still the music you compose no matter the tools you used.

 

Comparing Nexus to Serum, isnt really possible..
Its almost like comparing a qtr million pound mansion to an Iglooo!!
Nexus uses samples and not v.a or wavetble synthesis etc, and presets arent flexible at all, other than simple "adsr" controls
Serums a Wavetable synth/hybrid , and is crazy flexible,

As sombody said earlier, to a certain degree "it also depends on what genre your programming".
Me personally im Dnb /Jungle/hardhouse/garage,
Serum fits those perfectly
Wheras nexus would have a nervous breakdown at even the prospect of joining inn

The Roland JV series are also ROMplers, and you can create your own sounds.
Even the legendary Roland JD-800 is a 'ROMpler'.

How creative you can get depends on the Device options such as Filter, Amp, Effect, Modulation...
section and the most important part, the source samples (read only).

The JD-800 has by default 128 Samples, some complex, some less (raw waveforms such as multiple different SAW's, oneshot attack samples, or more complex looped multisamples).
With Nexus however, the source sampels are quite complex, most times fully processed multisamples.
