Based on comments so far, please correct me if i understand this right

If lets say i produce a preset on SERUM i really like (with no further adjustments needed)


IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE FOR NEXUS to have it as a stored preset and play it back (i'm not saying right now, but i'm just saying futurewise they might have included that, even by luck as i know you can't do that personally)

IS this correct?

Nexus isn't really a synth, it's a ROMpler, so it's kind of like a very expensive sample pack with pre-made sounds. So no, you couldn't.

 

Serum is waaaay more flexible, endless possibilities. Synthesis, any waveforms, noises etc. More more more more........
Nexus is sampled, cosmetic changes in sound only. Omnisphere2 is a rompler too, but way better, flexible.

Nope. That won't happen. Two different products. One one end you have Nexus 2 (and soon to be released 3). A rompler with limited editing capabilities with tons of presets all very polished Little room for your expressiveness.
On the other end you have Serum which a synth (wavetable kind of synth btw) and not a rompler so you can edit a lot more. Lots of presets too but not as "produced" as Nexus. I mean you will have to work more to sit them into a mix.

It also depends on the music genre you like to make. IMO Serum is more Hip Hop, RnB, Trap oriented (but with the right presets and a little work you can pretty much get everything you want). Although Nexus is more EDM, trance, pop music oriented although you still have a lot of presets banks belonging to other genres.

and like mild pump milk said. Omnisphere is a better option as a rompler.

 

Did you get angry? With your little fists clenched and all that? Please explain why nexus is able to reproduce Serum sounds. If you can.

 

I think the they were asking if nexus could have serum presets stored inside of nexus not whether nexus was capable of reproducing those sounds with its own synthesis engine, so therefore nexus could because nexus is just a ton of sampled patches that refx have created, recorded then stored inside of a nexus bank.

 

That was not the question. Any rompler can have ROM based on other synths. That's how they work. But, still, It's not possible in the end as Nexus does NOT have any of the editing capabilities Serum has. You'll have the "samples" but not the rest .

the question was whether nexus could store serum presets, not then if nexus could do what serum can do with regard to synthesis. nexus of course could store any preset from any synth but that's where it would end.

Guy Omnisphere 2 is a Synth not a f.cking rompler.
Like Kontakt is not a rompler. (But most use it as one XD)
Rompler per definition means Samples with no ability to change anything in the Sample by itself. (effects excluded)
A Rompler is the lowest in possibility you can´t cut samples, edit Waveforms etc.
Calling something a Rompler which isn't is quite offensive in my eyes.
Omnisphere 2 got 4 Layers 2 Oscillators with Granular Synthesis, Wavetable Synthesis, Substractiv, FM (maybe not the strongest one )Ringmodulation etc.
In some points superior to Serum. In some weaker for sure (Serum got 2 Wavetables Omni2 got 4 Layers with 2 wavetable = 8 Oscillators in total) Serum external effect unit Omni2 not . Serum export of Wavetables Omni not. Omni more effects etc.)

Like many said before Nexus (1,2,3) = Rompler
Rompler = only presets not your own stuff.

You could sample the sound of Serum with a Sampler/Synth with sampling like (Hallion, Kontakt, Falcon, even Synthmaster,MFactory.... everything with sampling )
The advantage of this method would be less CPU with the disadvantage of not editing the sound in Serum. In short :Only effects and sample editing but no synthesis Stuff
(If you are very limited with your PC this is an interesting way to safe resources. )

NOT with a rompler like Nexus
Only the guys at Refx could build one with Serum and then sell it to you for 60 bucks

Yes this is correct . Could be that they use Serum or any other synth for that.
