That's mixing and mixing.Moving a knob on a plugin, everybody can do that. But making a whole bunch of tracks nice sounding, loud but dynamic, deep but clean, taking in consideration the technical aspects but remainig musical and artistic are another thing.

    nope:cheers:
are crazy nerd does his tool by his own...so does sound his music,,,

being in a engine using given tools is another story...but yes yes...to get something out of a graphic prog without knowing anything is another story like getting someting out of fl studio without knowing anything:hillbilly:

    +100

For the first couple years of learning for me, I watched all the tutorials under the sun but I was intimidated by the task of working on my stuff because I was afraid to ruin it. I progressed more in the last 12 months than the previous 3 years probably

Those look like the "multitracks" as opposed to "stems"...
Aren't stems usually already all mix processed, and therefore not "the best" for mix practicing?

I thought the whole point of FL Studio was to get something out of it without knowing anything.
No WONDER I have so many problems. :dunno:

Maybe a simple misunderstanding, the artists provide the single untreated tracks, at least according to my experience.

    ... which are called ..... ?
"Multitracks?" (or at least NOT "stems")
That's what I am guessing from what most places are saying.
First time I have ever really thought about it, as I don't aspire (don't think I have the ability) to become a mix engineer
But for my own stuff, practicing in different ways may help.
In one way it seems the more you learn the more you realize you don't know.
And that is why I stay interested ...and interested in these forums, too.

I don't mind to say that I suck at mixing, because after playing all the shows, attending hundreds of rock concerts, way too loud band practices where everyone kept turning it up until it was all an aural blur, maxing out my 1979 Sony Walkman's ear splitting power output to scream above the cacophony of New York City subway rides and that firecracker that went off withing three feet of my right ear that 4th Of July way back when in somebody's Hoboken back yard, my hearing really sucks balls. 'Fuck do I care, my songwriting is still awesome and that's what has always been more my main focus.

shutting up has never applied more here. It applies so much it is now a seperate specialisation in applied science courses at top universities...

In my country we have specialized universities for sound engineering too.
But yes graphics are very hard when beginning.I've tried briefly and I have been immediately discouraged.

  14. I hope that's a properly treated beach, because you've wasted yer mazoomas if it ain't.

I doesn't matter what you do behind a mixing desk, somebody will tell you you did it wrong. I mean look at Lord Algee. He does it wrong all the time.

Nah I don't agree. I think it depends on the person which is harder. Some people are good at mixing, some people are better at graphics. Its easier to learn different things for different people.
