Is a quick and dumb question, but i can't remember which mastering software was that have that feature.

One where the software listen to the track you want to emulate and make your new track sound similar to, and then applies the same EQ and other stuff. Can't remember! Was Neutron?
    Thanks in advance.

This started back almost 20 years ago with Steinberg's FreeFilter and isn't half as good as you might think.

What you're looking for is probably Ozone 9 Master Assistant. But please keep in mind, it doesn't do the job for you, it's an assistant, not a master. So take it as suggestions.

remember the old TC Electronic Finalizer or whatever it was called? seemed like alchemy at the time ... you would feed it one thing and apply to your track (it was a rack mount unit)....that was popular in the mid to late 90's... more late 90's actually..

I think you are right, it was Ozone. I've tried it once, and as you said, it ain't magical, but it gives a rough approach. The one i remember watching worked like, first it listen to a track, saves an EQ curve, and applies that to your master.
It wasn't Ozone 9, cos this i remember seeing it like 2 years ago, maybe that feature was in Ozone 7 or 8?

Thanks, i will reach for it

Was going to say EQ matching feature in Ozone. I recently used it to see where my mixes stacked up against reference mixes and found I was choking my high end (the air). So I relaxed some LP filters to open the top. I think it's very useful for that. Sort of as a visual aid to help train your ears. I didn't use it in the final mix, but applied what I saw to the individual tracks which is primarily where I eq.

It sounds like you need the IK Multimedia Lurssen Mastering Console.

I'm not really fond of any software like that, but I can imagine it might help you and other less knowledgeable people that want to make their mixes sound more "pro". Mixing and mastering is a very complicated matter, yep.

Yep, found it! I did get the learning video for it over at the sister site.
Seems like it does a LOT more than EQ match in Ozone. Thanks for the tip, @ThrashHead !

I use ADPTR Metric AB (from Plugin Alliance : https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/adptr_metricab.html) for that kind of stuff. It doesn't do anything for you, but gives you everything you need to get to your reference track, like MTM reference which also looks cool. Volume match,5 analysis tools for comparing, up to 16 reference tracks, etc....Very handy tool. Great for learning what others do.
