    Wow this is heavy! I'm on holidays now but I'm looking forward to the day when I'm back in office and my both collegues who are Mac-Fanatics and also make music. Hehe, Schadenfreude (gloating) is the most beautiful joy. :bleh:

    Dont get me wrong, but there's no day, they are not glorifiying MacOS....and they are also assholes! :rofl:So I hope you understand why I'm laughing a lot when reading the list.

    I'm with you on the Gyro... since I depend on this stuff often for a living, I don't mess with stuff generally unless it's broke, at least in the middle of many projects and whatnot. I don't always need new whiz bang updates.... and on OS X i'm generally 2-3 iterations behind (hell, running Mavericks on main work machines and gonna go to Sierra/High Sierra as Native Instruments and others have forced my hand).

    I don't know what Mojave will even give me that I want (other then some compatibility with new contact etc), as I don't share Tim Cooks "vision" of what is important in computing. I stay offline on those machines, don't need damn notifications from everywhere, as I like to focus on WORK while working, I could care less about anything else I prefer to focus.

    I agree I don't like where this is trending (the updates) as I can see it becoming an impediment for me in a few years lol, but hell, between doing this for what seems like forever, buying and buying plugins in addition to the stuff I like to try out on other site, I think I can get done what I need to, or have been able to without getting the 'latest and greatest' breathlessly every day... I can't spend hours installing shit I don't know works, when my system is running fine and getting me through the day... but of course, like the rest of us... I am a hypocrite, as I DO like new toys as well. :dunno::mates::yes:

    You forgot HOFA users:

    macOS Catalina:
    We are currently testing the compatibility of all HOFA-Plugins products with the new Apple operating system. We strongly advise against installing the update to macOS 10.15 until the end of these tests.

    old news buy yeh , I bet that not only true for the ProToos world. It seams to be the natural result of apple big pause in updating their hardware. I hope that Apple some day get forced to change their behavior and offer finally great upgardeable hardware for a fair price
    (while i write that i hear people: :lmao: :rofl:)
    Another option could that Microsoft finally improve Windows so that it attact Apple users
    But that might take some years or decades according to the current speed of progress....
    (Your Phone app – unveiling Calls, now even more ways to stay connected to what matters,
    Cortana now draggable , :dunno: How about fix darkmode no fucking white flashes, show folder sizes in explorer, redesign the ancient exploder, remember windows state... >100 other missing things )?)

    Hopefully Presonus fix the laggy GUI of Studio One on macOS with the new Catalina build

    I've only read about some basic upgrades coming with cat, are there any actual advantages for AV users? Is this inching toward the new non Intel processors or is this just a pain to accommodate iPads, the desktop features and such?

    Thank you for sharing this.. seriously I am a Mac enthusiast but the only logical solution I can find to why they feel the need to introduce a whole new operating system upgrade when Mojave has literally only been out since September of 2018 is just plain selfish on Apple's part.. they are only doing this to force those who still own/have mac models from the early 2000's go out and spend 2,000 bucks on a new one.. and I don't like it one bit.. greed

    ProTools users are leaving Apple, because of garbage AVID policy of crashing any non-AVID audio interface with more than 32 inputs in ProTools;
    new Mac Mini is perfectly capable of professional audio production (6-core/12-thread, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 10Gbit ethernet...), but again garbage AVID is not able to provide Thunderbolt 3 version of AVID HDX or any other audio interface solution to allow higher input channel count
    :chilling:
    speaking of pro-audio market, ProTools users are leaving, finally understanding DAWs like Cubase, Studio One and Reaper are totally capable yet significantly cheaper solutions

    My computer got forced into obsolescence like two OSes ago. I'll have to hack it just to run Mojave, no way in hell will I ever be able to run Catalina. I finally weeded out all my 32-bit apps and plugs, but that's mainly because it was probably time to go 64-bit only.

    By the way, even an old cheese grater (or my Nehalem black MacBook that I had to abandon a few years back) could run Catalina, except for the fact that they keep dropping support for older graphics/video cards and coming out with new iterations of Thunderbolt and USB that you can't just get a card for. I guess they had to figure out a way to keep selling new Macs to loyal customers who would otherwise keep using older hardware and this is it.

    Amen! I allegedly have a "perpetual license" for regular PT that I let lapse, but if I were to buy an upgrade at this point, it would cost $599 (if I wanted to keep my "perpetual license" status) or $300 (if I went over to a subscription model that would expire after a year and make PT unusable unless I continued to pay, or paid for an upgrade to the "perpetual license"). And full-on PT HD is $1,000, then $800 a year, whether you're subscribing or owning, not to mention the mandatory hardware (either native HDX or HD, and either as a card or a TB device for your PT-socketed interface, which is a whole other expense!). Avid is terrible, especially as regular PT is actually less capable than any other DAW on the market (proprietary plug format and audio engine, artificially-restricted audio and MIDI track count). Even studios are giving up on it.

    I wish somebody could figure out a way to k the latest version of PT (or even better, PT HD) for the Mac; it would then at least justify the outrageous cost of the legit software, like Waves or the Adobe stuff. In fact, at this point, being able to k PT might be the only thing that saves it, as a lot of people who can only access PT via Pro Tools First, which is like using a Tascam digital 8-track with less functionality, might be more inclined to become loyal Avid customers. It would also prevent the studios from jumping ship, as all their mix jobs from low-budget musicians would still be in PT format and they'd still have to maintain a PT license instead of gravitating towards Live, Studio One, Logic and Reaper because none of their clients use PT anymore. At this rate, Avid might end up having to either having to pull a Cakewalk and making the software free, or end up selling six copies of PT a year like Steinberg does Nuendo.

    there's one thing that is missing in this topic and that is that these warnings are being put out each time a new OS comes out, simply because they haven't tested it yet. it doesnt mean that shit wont work, it just means shit hasnt been tested yet.

    there is absolutely no valid reason to use (new) PT nowadays,
    if educational facilities and big media organizations started using Reaper in large scale, PT would be dead within few weeks, seriously

    Oh shit! Wow.

    I guess I may still stick to my decision I made a few years ago of my next rig being a hackintosh (for Logic), but now it definitely won't be to 'keep up' with Logic iterations or the latest OS at all.
    I know this dev thing always happens with new macOS releases, but come on, aren't they way too often now? Plus, there are probably many other things going on behind the scenes between the manufacturers.
    Maybe even warez are a reason behind some of this? I dunno.

    hackintosh is a superior solution to any Windows-driven PC or real Mac, because you can fake the definition of the system and run any MacOS you wish, and Windows kernel by design struggles with resource allocation to time critical tasks like audio processing;
    Logic imo is garbage - I use Reaper on my hackintosh and it's flawless experience; I'm planning to set up (most likely Windows-based) Vienna Ensemble Pro server(s) for external mastering processing and instruments, but that's a long run...

    apple won't be forced to change their behaviour unless apple fanatics start to leave the boat. Apple's dev policy is the dumbest thing you can get from hi tec industry.
    their updates force third company to recode their products for a platform with less and less users.
    apple annonce arm cpu , wich means recoding and incompabilities with actual mac stuff.
    and ios will be the os, they assume , making buggy phones and computer for douchbags and layers
