Does anybody know what the DNA button does in the latest v1.2.6 version? It's on sale now for $39.99 and it's a very useful plugin.

It is since 1.2.0 update, with new transformers models plus a lot of fixes and couple of improvements.
DNA gives some extra true vibes for emulation. Better emulation. Or so.

 

I never really understood what this plugin does.

With subtle Fabfilter Saturn or some other saturation plugins ive got similar effects, what makes this plugin so great?

 

For me it is a kind of... Distorting thru truely emulated transformers... Vibes and mojo of transformers...

It's really good if you know how to use it in conjunction with a transparent algo EQ, and it gets you closer to the hardware sound. Try it before Crave EQ or something similar.

It's my secret weapon for console type sound with low CPU. You can get near to the Nebula effect without the processing overhead, and problems with stacking. I use it alongside Nebula, as that can smear the bottom end if you overuse it on the low frequencies. Everybody should have True Iron in their toolkit.

It seems this plugin effect is subtle but really good and analogic-like. I'm on a basic level so I wouldn't take profit of him but many people talks very good about it.

This plugin emulates the audio qualities of a transformer in a couple of ways. In the first instance something called by hysteresis whereby a bit of the electrical charge in the transformer remains for a short amount of time and creates low frequency distortion at all levels of the signal and not only when the core is saturating. The second is when the transformer saturates and cannot hold any more magnetic flux. Goo, goo and more goo is good for me and you. The signal carries nice harmonic distortion and sounds not exactly clean and sterile anymore but robust and sexy.

Noise Ash, 'Heat' is quite nice as well. from the 'Palmary collection'.

 

Similar, but not the same, they have modeled real iron old transformers. They just different plugins that give you different tones and colors.

 

Imho, nothing.

I did almost the same and found nothing special. Neither by measuring nor by listening.

@Gyro Gearloose it isn't. I just wanted the installer since R2R's solution should activate it. I just bought True Dynamics and didn't want to drop another $40.
