That is a very sexy piece of gear rite there!
I dont think i've seen one before, or at east taken notice.

Wish someone would do a good Sequence based Midi controller beside that one for fruity loops akai made (Sorry Fruities, I still say it smiling )
Also.. yeah I know Launchpads.. but bro Ableton is kind goofy as sh*# to learn after using traditional daws for 15 years lol..Im trying... I can trigger my songs?

I imagine though it's not practical in reality.
I just was thinking about this pondering buying a MPC.. yeah it has that swing.. but damn am I really gonna sit down and learn that thing properly enough? We have trained our selves at flying through VST's a lot of us. Using same similar structures makes it easier for us aand developers.

But gear is gear, its done it's way and each is so incredibly different.

This Really just comes down to lazyness lol.
Im struggling to memorize Pro Tools shortcuts in hopes of my internship lol

My boy Matt He is a few years younger then me but is a straight gear head!
He just posted this video last night. I got a little jealous. Very nice

as much as i want to know how to use that stuff.. i just would end up giving up and grabbing serato sample while i call for pizza lol

Agree, theoretically gear would make one less lazy, you move knobs instead and stuff, if it works positively towards one musical output is highly debatable - for one person it does, for the next person it doesn't. For your question heck yeah go with the MPC , you can hook up it with a beatstep. Best of worlds, would blow a rd 808 straight out the water.

They say I will get my first one next week and the second one 2 weeks after. The second one, I will mod the shit out of it. In the meantime, I got me a Dave Smith Tempest. Talk about a beast? This thing is awesome, and the best thing is that I bought it at state auction for $640. It not only sounds great but also it is the best-constructed drum machine I have tested.
The 303 would be a nice addition, too. What Behringer is doing should have been done a long time ago. The Odyssey sounds great. And for $400 you can find a used one. Nothing like hardware synths, drum machines, and sequencers.
BTW, are you going to keep the buttons intact or are you going to invert them to show as in the original 808 and the first batch?

Yeah tempest is great, I've heard good things about it. Great deal that is as wel
I was kinda debating between all of the synths from behringer, but i definetly think the odyssey is the most versatile of them all and cheep as fuck for that matter.

and the 303, who saw that coming, expected behringer would clone a 303 one day, but its some enigma code they were teasing. But good for behringer though, release date 8 november, damn keep m coming!

I have not really read about the rd-8, whats the button mod? did not updat the firmware either

As I said, in the Tempest, as with any other Dave Smith instrument, the build and sounds are excellent. In my opinion, the DeepMind 12 is the best synth Behringer sells. You can find it used in the $500-600 range. I found mine listed in mint condition for $200 on

If you make a habit of checking on places like Craiglist 3 or 4 times a day you can find some true bargains.

I check Craiglist in 5 different areas every 30 minutes. That is how I find bargains. Once you find it you must move quickly or someone else's can grab it. Same with Ebay. You have to go to auctions and wait for those 'No-reserve" items. It is like a full-time job. If you see a bargain, buy it even if you don't need it. For example, you buy another $700 Roland synth exactly like the the one you already own for $200. Now you have $700 worth of "gear" to trade. You trade it for a $700 Yamaha, Korg , whatever. You are only paid $200 for it. Bro, I am a hardware hoarder.
