is there a midi chord effect for ableton, that wiill show the actual notes being generated as opposed to the one key you press on the keyboard?

in reaper they have "chord in key" so when you press a key, the chord plays and when you record it you get the midi of the chords, not just they key that was played. is there something like this in ableton?

 

Open vst with keyboard like Sylenth1
then drag and drop Chord from midi effects.
You can see live results on the vst keyboard.



If you press record then will be only one note in the midi but chord effect is apply and you hear chord and rendered track is be what You hear, not what you see in the piano roll.

Nope. I'm only use Ableton.
What you would create? What purpose is this? Maybe is a method to do what you need.

Are you talking about the plugin JS MIDI ChordKey in Reaper? If not can you post a screenshot of the tool you use?
If you mean JS MIDI ChordKey I think you have to use the plugins Scaler or Chordz in Ableton

Use the Chord device. Categories>MIDI Effects> Chord and you make can make your own. Then make a rack.
Ableton's page has a few links to rack devices that generate chords with Macros.
Look for an M4L device.

Does Live allow adding Arpeggiator after Chord ?

 

with this. i can simply press record, play one key and the chord will appear as midi. i want it this way so i can play my one key chords and then edit them. but in ableton

I don't use Ableton, but in Reaper and Studio One you can use any chord MIDI effect for that, putting it as the first MIDI instrument (usually MIDI effects are considered MIDI instruments by the DAW).
As long as you can set both the "input record" and "output record" of the track to MIDI.
Perhaps you need a dedicated track as a fellow said before.

arent those compatible in ableton, I remember using some reaper plugins in live which were programmed under the name 'JS'. Gonna check it out, as with the reaper fx plugin you can just chuck it before a instrument and don't bother with setting up routings/recording midi

Don't have ableton installed atm, only on my other boot disk, but checked the website for you, it is compatible, download this https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/#tour and you can find it under ReaJS when u stick it in ur ableton.

 

I wish ReaPlugs worked on Mac.

 

You're right, but ReaPlugs technically are regular VST2 plugins. That means ReaPlugs ReaJS MIDI effects are the same as other MIDI plugins like CodeFn42, pizmidi, Scaler (this is more complex as it has optional audio output).

I think the OP's problem is Live's MIDI plugins compatibility. Could be wrong, haven't used Live. MIDI plugins have always had compatibility problems, especially years ago. Don't know why. A void in the VST specifications back in the day perhaps.

 

I've honestly never had issues with routing MIDI with plugins in Ableton Live but I also know it make make a huge difference to understand the difference between Monitor IN and AUTO on MIDI tracks.
Maschine. This is where the MIDI routing problems lie. Funnily enough, I have found myself working more within Reaper and using Maschine in Mackie mode with my own MIDI mappings/actions and Push as an OSC controller device.
