TH-U is way better than Amplitube, that is, if you play the guitar. If you're just going to use it in mixing, then it's possible to achieve very convincing tones with both.

 

I like TH-U more
Its more flexible.
(Maybe Its secondary but Th-U looks better to me)

Yes, they have amp models based on the Ampeg SVT-CL and SVT-VR.

 

There is one plugin that I feel is better for me than th-u but you will get by if you aren't actually playing an electric guitar.

I listened to the new Strymon Iridium, and since I have a 100 buck gift certificate to one of my local music stores that I had gotten for a birthday present from a friend, will buy it upon my return from abroad in two weeks.
