Vanity is the excessive belief in one's own abilities, ergo its a sign of weak people who can nor will not develop creatively because (in this case) they already believe they are at least on the level or greater than HZ.
These people do not live by the same rules other artists in the business do because they refuse to accept the fact that they are at the bottom and need the patience to learn, listen and not to attack people who have already left a mark in the music industry.
This is not how the music industry works but if you are only around to download 1000 plugins and talk shit, well then this wont affect you nor will you care about what i just wrote.
Its about collaboration, acknowledgement, respect and hard work.

Do you really want to go with that? The academy is not stupid. Neither are the panel at the Grammy's when Esperanza Spalding beat Bieber for best new album/artist either.

They are wising up. John Williams' level skill-sets are becoming more important now than ever. Even the Director's and Producers are wising up. It's like so many musicians sending highly produced music to A&R people not understanding why more music with actual musicians on the tracks get taken up than sample-based music. I could say why, but I won't.

    e.g.

    Academy Awards..

I prefer to think better of people. I do not think you are wrong, I simply know that until someone actually does it they have no concept of what is involved and that there is no point in bothering to explain what is involved. The best way for anyone to learn anything is to do it themselves and find out for themselves that sitting behind a computer with a DAW means jack shit. I can score with a pencil but that took many years of doing it.
It's a perspective changer. Informing anyone that does not want to know, is like trying to lift an elephant with your little finger.

Criticism (especially valid as far as Hanz goes) is not an "attack", von Steyradent. Just sayn. However much you might love Handzy, everyone with ears can hear that I've been fair to him. I respect the volume of his output, his work rate. I'm not sure how much faith you can have that he has been involved with music he attributes to himself (for @Bunford "melody").

Each and every famous artist can be criticized like this.
I find soundtrack of almost all of the movies Hans Zimmer is involved in to be great. There is a perfect combination of sound design and emotional feel in his soundtracks. That's my personal experience.
I want to know who makes better soundtrack? Who is consistent like Hans Zimmer in 21st Century?

I mean, I'm rly with you about the soundtrack to Driving Miss Daisy, @Ankit. But have you, as a fan, seriously not listened to the score The Rock, or Broken Arrow? I guess it's consistent, at least.

I'm not sure about stupid. But (two random examples) I do genuinely think that most members voted for the best score (to the complete shock of the composer =) to The Full Monty based on the licensed music, and gave Handzy his academy award because they liked that Circle of Life song.

Are you saying that this is Hanz' legacy?

I figured you watched the videos posted of Hans. He started without a computer.

Have you inspected the orchestration, instrumentation and composing on Circle of Life?
One of the most consistent arguments people on here have posted against Hans is the usage of 'Lack of memorable melody'.
That sort of flies in the face of that. So if they gave it for memorable melody that's not a bad thing, that's good composing.

I made a clear comment that they are wising up earlier. Many of the judges in a lot of these events as in members of the academy etc are their peers.

Experimentalism VS. (Formalism & Structuralism & Traditionalism)

This war never ends. Each of them have their own adherents and hardly understand each other and charge the opposed coterie with backwardness in thoughtway.

Some experimentations luck out and become parts of the tradition. The question is:

What makes an experimentation so special to be attached to the repertoire?

I observe that he started using synths in the 70s. He (famously) shunned (shuns?) real instruments - "I'm a good programmer. I've always felt that the computer was my instrument. " Hanz, 2013

Have you observed who actually wrote that melody (and actually most) of the score? And who got credit for it?

Well this is awkward....the comment that the guy in your linked video shows at the start was actually a HZ comment in response to a remake I made of the track about 8 years ago
