this is a silent case + the filters, because removable, can be cleaned easily every couple months.
this ensures a lasting state in terms of temp/noise.

the results are really good considering the furnace! (9900k) inside :D

Yeah.... With all the animals running around my house, my Corsair case can look like a veterinarian's office when I open it up. :snuffy:

I'm hoping one of the newer cases like this may at least give me a fighting chance!

So, I know the main thing is I'm going to have to dump the ram and move to DDR4. I need a new motherboard and I need to upgrade the CPU with one of the options discussed on another thread (7700k, 9700, Ryzen)

I switched to a Threadripper build myself 2 months ago, this thing is a warhorse but with some problems. Was unable to get Windows 7 to work on it for example and being forced to use Windows 10 the audio side of it is a little wonky, Babyface needs unplugging every time the PC wakes from sleep and other irritants. On the plus side - 192khz sample rate is a breeze for example, some synths will kill the cpu load however but nothing that a little bouncing wont fix. If you need Windows 7 go Intel, don't know anything about their hardware but if you want AMD try regular Ryzen not Threadripper, people have had better luck with those. I'm buying a Ryzen 3700x build for my girlfriend and will try and see if I can get Win 7 to work, hell I might switch the boards then. :D Also with Ryzen it is better to buy faster ram, @ 3000mhz it should be optimal for Ryzen but you need to overclock yourself because most Ryzen boards go up to 2666mhz.

    If I had to build a new computer I would take a i9 9900K,best bang for the bucks.With the motherboard I have,Asus Z390 Prime and 16GB and a SSD.
You'll be amazed by this power in comparison with your current config.

Imo the most important thing about an Audio Computer is noisefloor.

So get a Case with some sound dampening material inside. Like the Fractal Design Define R5.
And a super silent Power Supply by bequiet
    And a water cooler.

Air coolers are in many cases more silent. For example Noctua NH-D15S. I prefer CPU air coolers

A more modern approach staying with the case & a CPU with onboard graphics that punches above it's weight.

    https://pcpartpicker.com/user/edmars/saved/#view=MszTCJ

The two M.2 SSDs added come to roughly $260 extra but offer reliable, quite & fast storage.
Chose DDR 4400MHZ memory which is not the fastest the chosen motherboard can work with.
DDR4 3600 would be the minimum for Ryzen on this platform.
The power supply was bumped up to 80+ Gold @ 750W. Lots of available power for spinning drives, PCIe expansion, etc...

You didn't give it enough thought maybe? Here:

    @redhead
Before anyone jumps and says anything, i have 8 Intel pcs in the studio, including a Xeon workstation, a 7700k and an older 6 core HEDT, various i5s and Core2s. I build pcs many years as my secondary job , both Windows and Hackintosh. It's also a passion of mine as i'm nerdy like that when it comes to hardware.
    So first thing's first.
I hear the guys saying you don't need 64gb ram. They 're all my friends and i love 'em alright but...If you want to do 48+ discrete Kontakt orchestral channels plus all the rest of normal arrangement, synths etc. all realtime with no export, 64gb (or upwards) is the way to go.
Modern consumer mobos can go up to 128gbs since now there are 32gb DDR4 sticks.
Modern HEDT mobos (enthusiast/workstation platform, X series cpus for Intel, AMD Threadripper) may go up to 256gb. Which means you can buy a cheap consumer mobo (ATX/E-ATX mobos usually have 4 slots) and put 2x32gb of sweet DDR4 and still be able to upgrade in case you need more :)
With that said, it is better to go for a good mobo, both Intel and AMD high core count cpus consume a lot of power, so the better VRMs (voltage regulator modules) your mobo is equipped with, the longer it will last (and i am not talking about OC'ing here). Better mobos also have usually more features as well. Things to take into consideration are, if you will need Thunderbolt or not. How many m.2 NVMe ssds you may want in conjuction with your sata ssds or hdds(?). And of course how many cores you want on your cpu.
Intel's consumer line maxes at 8 cores, AMD's is at 12 cores with a 16core model coming next month.
    Intel's new HEDT maxes at 18 cores/48 pci-e lanes, AMD's existing HEDT is at 32 cores/64pci-e lanes.
Also if you are looking to go for up to an 8 core with a cheap GPU and no cpu overclock, your PSU will most likely manage if it's rated 80+ bronze and upwards (most are nowadays). For a serious audio workstation though, i'd prefer one of the Corsair RMx series, as it's rated 80+ gold and is dead silent. Their models span from 650 up a 1000 watts. And they come a 10 year warranty.
So, for the reality check hehe:
I wouldn't touch Intel cpus atm. Intel cpus are outdated and outperformed by AMD's new line up in both desktop and server segment. The only thing still relative about them is you can get a mobo with Thunderbolt3 relatively cheap, that is if you need one.
Intel's so desparate that their new HEDT series(10xxx), starting from 10 core up to 18 core is being released with a 50% discount vs their 1 year older counterpart cpus (9xxx). But even with their new 18 core i9 at a little less than 1000 dlrs, they have no luck as Threadripper 3 is launching on November and it will start from 24cores and upwards. What AMD has achieved with their 3rd gen Ryzen is practically equal their clock for clock performance with Intel and by switching to 7nm they are able to both consume less power and cram more cores into their cpus. Intel still has a small performance lead on games but that is insignificant because on everything else it's being floored by Ryzen 3.
Other factors that may lead to buying AMD is PCI-E gen 4 on all new AMD chipsets. Already consumer NVMe SSDs by Corsair and Gigabyte etc. are hitting 5gb/sec on a single M.2 slot and the big SSD names like Samsung, Micron(Crucial) and Intel (lol) havn't released any pci-e4 ssds yet, so this has a definite future. Also, on the AMD camp, Thunderbolt3 is happening, although scarce atm. No longer is TB3 an Intel exclusive.
So for a high end workstation, the upcoming Threadripper 3 is the way to go imho. The consumer Ryzen 3 series is also very powerful but since it belongs to the consumer desktop category (as do the i5 9600k, i7 9700k, i9 9900k on the Intel side) it has less pci lanes, with all the caveats this may bring to a user willing to spend on fast nvme drives or many gpus etc.
I will recommend a couple of configs for the existing Intel and AMD platforms in my next post as this has already become too long. It would help a lot if you let us know what your estimated budget is.
    Cheers

simple avoid anything which come from Nvidia and Gigabye
i always buying Nvidia and Gigabye product's and they all the time fucked up !
sorry to all Nvidia or Gigabye fan !

you can build amazing cheap pc just to upgrading the motherboard / processor / graphic cards
you can search on Alibaba their is ton of product which you can buy really cheap such intel i9 processor just for 100$
you type in the search field what you need and get for yourself cheap good product stuff !
    here one example :
